Good free/inexpensive CD Burning software for windows XP.

I bought CD burner a while ago that came with software and everthing was fine. But recently I ‘upgraded’ to windows XP, the software will not work with windows XP unless I buy the $90 uprade , that’s more than I paid for the thing in the first place.

Any suggestions for good, simple software for burning CDs? I don’t want to do anything complicated, just make some mixes of CDs I have and probably burn some pics onto CDs.

Thanks

Ask a friend who has recently purchased a CDR. Most new drives come with XP compatible software bundled with the drive (Roxio or other). Although the bundled OEM version is not the full bells and whistles retail version it should suffice for your purposes.

XP has built in burning software. Sure, its not exactly top notch but it works. If you want, you can get Powertoys for XP which allows you to burn ISO’s with the built in burner.

I have W2K Pro on a Dell machine and Roxio presented a huge number of problems with that! And it came with the CD burner that I bought from Dell! Well, I guess I should save that info for a pit thread.

Suffice to say, a friend recommended Nero software and it’s under $40.00 and works just great–they have a free demo version you can download to test it out, too.

Nero is good but you might try Roxio Easy CD by Roxio. Check it out here for a good price. This is Ver. 5.3.

Doh! I completely forgot about this, and I’ve used it too!

Do what Shalmanese said re this software. It’s simple and works fine for most burners.
