Good hat stores in Seattle

Or between Seattle and Vancouver, BC.

I was wearing my fedora the other day, and I thought I’d like to get a new one. Only instead of wool I’d like 4X (at least) beaver.

Where can I get one?

Bernie Utz, 310 Union Street, (206)-623-0233

About half a mile from the office. Cool.

Grazie!

That’s the place I was going to recommend. They’ve been a Seattle institution for at least 40 or 50 years.

In that cool Market in Seattle I found a spiffy vintage Fedora.

The Filson store down by the stadiums has a nice but pricy selection of hats.

I went to Byrnie Utz at lunch today and picked up a Stetson. I think it’s called ‘The Temple’, and is brown rabbit fur. (A Stetson beaver fedora cost $350, and a Borsalino one was $460.)

Too bad I didn’t wear an A-2 jacket today. With that, the hat, a pencil moustache, and gobs of money I could pretend I’m Howard Hugues!

Glad you found a hat, Johnny. Too few folks wear hats, especially fedoras. I might also suggest, for those who may still be looking for a source of hats in the PNW, David Morgan. I’ve not visited the retail store, but I did order an Akubra, of which I am most fond, through their Web site about six years ago.

I can’t read a statement like that without thinking of The Meaning Of Life.

But yeah, it might be a more interesting place if more people wore hats. For me, it’s making a fashion statement: ‘Look at me! I’m wearing a hat!’ But seriously, it keeps my head warm when I don’t want to wear my bright red tuque and it keeps the rain off.

Wearing my cheap grey wool fedora today.

I like the Traveller. The Sydney is nice as well.
