That’s very well done Kirking. But it’s also good Archering.
(I stole that from www.televisionwithoutpity.com. They always call Archer “Quantum” and point it out when he “Kirks.” We should verb some more words. As Calvin mentioned in Calvin and Hobbes, "Verbing weirds language.)
I be Kirkin’ like a gherkin.
Now that’s a great sig line!
[Bug in an Edgar suit] More sugar! [/biaes]
Panda? WTF does that mean? I mean I can infer from context pretty well but…is this some brand new American slang term?
“Panda” = “pander.” As far as I know, it’s specific to SDMB discussions of “Enterprise.” I think our own dear sweet Kn*ckers came up with it; she referred to how “the panda” showed up during a decon-gel scene or something like that. Now it’s shorthand for gratuitous beefcake (Trip in his blue underwear) or boobage (Hoshi in the shower).
We likes the panda. We hates the panda. We has issues.
I was working on this concept with a friend of mine (being geeks). We’d fleshed out a series called Star Trek: Empires, that would focus on the relationship / conflict between the Klingons and Romulans and really expand on their cultures.
Of course, it would never work. But I’d love to see it if it were done well.
How about a show featuring the heroic crew of a Klingon battlecruiser who fearlessly explore the unknown frontier of the galaxy, encounter new worlds and new civilizations, and ruthlessly bring them under the iron heel of the Empire…
This question gets posted a lot and the last time it came around someone put forward the Merchie Idea. I liked it a lot and think it might be the way to go.
We know little about civilian life in the ST universe, it is a free area. Could our Merchie be inthe same time frame as Spock and Kirk? Why not?
I see the grubby little ship run my a grubby little crew trying to make a credit and stay (mostly) on the right side of the law. Sort of a dirty Star Wars I (or IV, whatever) world.
Another idea put out in a previous thread is to have the second officer a secret Romulan spy. His secret subspace reports would be a narrator’s voice as the spy (and we) learn more about these people.
No original ideas from me here, but they have stuck in my mind since I heard them and perhaps this means they were pretrty clever.
Kinda like Firefly.
Kinda. El Whoosho!
Thanks for the feedback on the books, Aesiron.
At least 3 (although I’ve seen the second one only). Love the character names.

BTW, FWIW, FYI…
elf6c coined Panda.
And a brave new era in posting began.
Thanks to Cervaise and NoClueBoy.
A great word, next time I see the Panda I will call out: “Bring on the bear! Maybe this time it’ll get some action!”
TELLARITES!
Well, we still haven’t -seen- them yet (although it was a Tellarite ship that directed Enterprise to that space ship repair station!)
In all honesty, though, I’d like to see a series that would delve more into the background and history of alien races, particularly the founders of the Federation, but not necessarily; I’m all for more info about the Romulans or Klingons. Or even the Ferengi. Has anyone ever noted that Ferengi is an Indian word for foreigner, btw?
Years ago, when I had free time, I had worked up the background for a series of ST stories. It was based on the premise that the Federation had finally figured out that using huge ships with crews of 400+ to transport VIPs and urgently needed supplies and equipment was incredibly wasteful. A new class of starships was designed emphasizing speed and adaptability; IIRC the ships had a crew of about 25 and came in several variations depending on their precise function, with some of them equipped with variable-environment chambers to transport aliens or material which required non-Earthlike conditions.
This could be a good premise for a TV series; there could be multiple casts highlighting the crews of different ships, with crossover shows or crew transfers as needed for various storylines.
How so with anti-matter power and replicators? You can make anyting with unlimited power, and lots of folks need work lest they become bored sitting around in the Federation paradise.
This was pre-TNG, and in TOS we saw little in the way of warp-capable ships except for the Enterprise and others of her class. There also hadn’t been much mention of the Federation as the paradise that TNG implied. It just seemed that there might be advantages to having a fleet of small, fast ships that would free up the large starships for more important missions.
[Chekov] OH, pre-TNG, vell. [/Chekov]
