This thread on bad-tasting medicine made me remember how much I used to love orange Triaminic when I was a kid.
My parents also used to buy this bubble-gum flavored cold medicine, it came in a tub and was sort of creamy. I loved that too, though now that I describe it, it sounds pretty foul to adult-me.
Any medicines you used to love as a kid? Still love the taste of now?
My younger brother and I always loved chewable Tylenol, both regular and grape. At a certain point, if my parents gave me Tylenol for some reason, my brother would put his hand to his forehead and announce that he thought he had a fever.
I did the same fake-sick thing to get the orange Triaminic. Had to be orange, the other flavors were gross. Orange was like ultra-concentrated Tang, with even more sugar.
They can’t call it “baby aspirin” any more, but they do still sell “low dose” aspirin, and the ones I buy taste just like St. Joseph’s did, slightly orangey.
I’ve heard people from outside the US say they don’t like the taste of root beer and that it reminds them of medicine. I have no idea what kind of medicine tastes like root beer, but since I like root beer it sounds pretty good to me!
I kind of like the regular flavor of Pepto-Bismol. I think that I associate the taste with relief, though, so it might not be the taste.
I like the sugar free Hall’s wild cherry cough drops. Oddly, I like them better than the kind with sugar in them. Usually I hate artificial sweeteners and will avoid products that are artificially sweetened.
Someone mentioned bubblegum flavored Amoxocillian(sp?). That’s a good one, whenever my daughter is sick I always like to sneak a drop here and there (which I shouldn’t, ya know, since I’m allergic to penicillin).
But my favorite is Tussionex, it’s some sort of antihistamine and codeine cocktail which tastes wonderful and does an amazing job of getting rid of a cough.
