I’ve always had too much iron in my water, it stained my tub from the day I moved in.
Now it has gotten worse and is staining my clothing and other things. It is time to invest in a filter.
Please share you experience and advice on whole-house water filtration systems.
That is going to be some type of filter. Look in to a deironizer. They are like a water softener but aimed at Iron instead of Calcuim.
Iron can be removed with a potassium permanganate system, which uses ionic exchange (yes, like a softener, but not with salt) to precipitate the iron out of the water. When I lived with a well with this problem, we had Culligan install and maintain the thing, and I don’t know the brand.
Any good reverse osmosis filter for the drinking water will give you water to the highest standards of purity, as long as you change the membranes on time.
There’s a guy here who does this for a living (I work with bigger systems that need less treatment) - see if boytyperama pops in.
