Good Word it's fucking hot

I don’t know about other parts of the country but this heat has certainly taken it’s toll on my brain.

Cranky, annoyed and frustrated is the best to explain how I feel.

Normally we get monsoon rains to cool our city of Colorado Springs to down around 55-60 degrees in the afternoon this time of year. Tonight is not the case. It’s still 82 HOT degrees in my office and I am annoyed by this. We “might” see some relief on Sunday or Monday but we keep hearing that and it’s just becoming a farce.

All we need is some rain, just a short shower every afternoon. Crap, I watered the pine tree in my backyard today. I have been watering it for a couple of weeks now and I am just saddened by this heat. One pine tree in my yard has already died.

Water is a big issue here. A small town just southwest of us is about to run out of water this weekend. I have never, in my 33-34 years seen anything like this before. Yep, imagine taking a pee in the morning and there’s no water to flush your toilet.

It’s just miserable. I know that temps in the low 90s aren’t a big deal for many but as a native to Colorado, this is a big deal when it is consistant and we don’t have air conditioners as a normal household appliance.

Yes, there are more horrible problems in this world but I have seen normally calm people become annoying assholes in this heat. This pattern of heat and no rain needs to stop. I am tired of it and I am tired of bitching about it but it’s a part of our lives at the moment. I have to bitch where I can when I can.

Oh and if you think that I shouldn’t be complaining about this, fuck you because I am a Colorado Native and this is just BEYOND normal for us. 1:30 at night or so, my house shouldn’t be this fucking hot.

I want snow, I want snow, I want snow.

Sorry, when I saw the title I thought this was going to be a rant about people who swear like Andrew Dice Clay but write ‘G-d’ all the time.

Yeah, these miserable summers suck, don’t they? In my first summer in a place that regularly got humid, 95[sup]o[/sup]+ weather, I made a promise: “I will never complain about cold weather again.” Since then, memory of that first summer has kept me content no matter how cold the winter weather has gotten.

The best part is how your sweat collects under your tits, drips into your bra and leaves you itching horribly. There’s just something about having someone walk up to your desk when you’re elbow deep in a good boobage scratch that can really ruin your day.

bella–where it’s 7am and already 87[sup]o[/sup]

and i thought this was a mircosoft word appriciation thread… damn:smack:

Never move to Washington.

Bella the worst is when your crotch sweats, the stink is still there even after you take a shower, and your underpants are so wet you have to roll them off. I agree with everyone about the heat. Here in Chicago it’s been hot and humid (upper 80s, lower 90s) with no appreciable rain since June 21, the grass is brown and crunchy, I’m fucking sick of seeing the sun, my a/c has not turned off in days, and I’m tired of going to the barn every night to make sure the Wonder Pony hasn’t melted. I’m cranky, constantly tired, sick to my stomach and I don’t want to eat. (Which is really sad because one of my greatest pleasures in life is eating junk food.) I will never complain about winter again (although winter really doesn’t bother me). For the life of me, I cannot understand why people voluntarily move where it’s hot year round. And damn those morons who say “I like it hot.” Assholes go from their a/c house to their a/c car to their a/c jobs.

peedin, I just have to say that your username, in conjunction with this quote

just has me rolling. ::snort, snicker::

And I totally agree about the grass thing. I busted my ass this spring tearing up my dirt yard and planting grass, fertilizing, watering, etc., and now the damn thing looks like a sandlot. Ugh.
I heard on the radio this morning that the “drought” conditions around here haven’t been this severe in over a decade. I know all the farmers are hoping it rains soon. My rosebushes wouldn’t mind either, for that matter.

bella–planning a raindance for later this evening

techchick68, being from the mountains as well I can understand how you feel. This summer has been brutal. It’s been 90 or over almost every day for the past 2 weeks.

Whenever I get the urge to complain about the heat, I just think about how horrid the winters are here and how happy I am that it’s summer.

We’re in the third year of drought here.

We have received less than a third of our average rainfall this year and things are looking grim as hell with crops failing and plagues of grasshoppers eating everything that has managed to grow.

The forecast for the next week shows that there’s a slim chance of rain, we desperatly need it.

Oh yeah, it’s fucking hot.

I finally broke down and bought an a/c for the bedroom this year. When we’d bought the house the previous owners had left two a/c units which lasted a few years but were never replaced. We’d been managing with fans, but the last few years the heat/humidity has been getting worse.

I’ve actually been considering getting estimates for having central a/c installed.

Be glad you’re not in the South 'cause then you’d get humidity too. Nothing like showering, stepping outside into 90+ degrees weather and instantly being soaking wet again. I hate that.

The summers here in So Cal are hot, but not usually this dry.
We’re about 11 inches below normal for the past season. The only thing giving us any relief these days is the morning marine layer and the cool nights. But I’m sure this will all change in August, when it’ll be hotter n’ blazes.
I run the a/c at 78, but the inside of the house gets up to 84 by the late afternoon anyway.
Still, it’s downright comfy compared to my recent trip to Lost Wages. Baker, CA, rated 111 degrees on the World’s Tallest Thermometer in the center of town. Vegas was a mite cooler, being at a higher altitude, but it still felt like a death march if you actually ventured outside.
On our way back, Baker’s thermo read 114 at 7pm, and all the chocolates and stuff inside the convenience store had melted.
Lovely.

I guess Central Texas has been getting all of y’all’s rain (30 inches in one week- plenty of flooding) and mild weather. I don’t think it’s even hit 100 yet all year.

I did miss out on most of the heavy rain by going to Chicago for a week (people there were not comforted by my observation that their low to mid 90’s reminded me of a nice April morning in Texas).

For the life of me, I cannot understand why people voluntarily move where ice is regularly seen in the environment, as opposed to only in beverages, where it belongs. These people go from their heated house to their heated cars to their heated jobs.

Believe me, I am glad I don’t live in the south or even east of here in Kansas.

Humidity and heat, blech, fucking blech.

But understand that I have lived all but 1 1/2 months of my life in Colorado so 33 years of being used to a certain climate is figured into this equation.

Luckily it’s cooler tonight, about 79ºF in my office at the moment. I assume that by 2:00am I will be comfortable.

But damn this heat sucks. I even went to the mall today to escape it, I am not much of a shopper. I did enjoy a gyro and watched a little of a hockey practice (we have an ice rink in the mall close to me) and watched the funny antics of teens and the large families dining on junk food.

Oh, techchick68, I may live at the other end of the country, but I know what you speak of only too well…wiping sweat from her forehead, neck, and some other places which have already been mentioned…

We finally had a couple of torrential downpours within the last week or so. Silly me, I thought they’d continue…you know, that nice, cool, fresh air with a smidgen of breeze that almost always accompanies the aftermath?

HA! All we got was that same slimy, humid stuff that just…hangs…there…

What’s worse is the damned heat lightning and thunder – without any rain! It’s been like this for the past 2-3 days! GRRRR!!!

Earlier in the week, we hit an all time record in Thunder Bay, Ontario, of over 95F. The nice thing about it was a few women not wearing tops.

Fortunately, for the first couple of days of the heat wave, I was on a road trip across the North Shore of Huron’s Georgian Bay, the North Shore of Superior, and the heavily laked shield country, so I’d drive for a while, then hop in a lake, then drive for a while, then hop in a lake, and on and on and on.

Northeast Florida has been having heat indices of 105-109 this past week, continuing thru this weekend. I have to get out and mow my grass. It was too dewy earlier, and once it dries, it’ll be hotter 'n Hades or the afternoon t-storms will roll thru and soak it all again.

I’m heading out there right after lunch. Fully hydrated. Water at the ready. Cussing the whole time because we sold our riding mower. We’ve just got a little lawn - less than an hour to mow it, but dang, in the humidity, it’s torture. I’m too old for this. I need a well-oiled, scantily clad young stud to do my yardwork. Seriously. Volunteers? PLEASE???

My wife’s been asking me to get one of these for years. I’ve been trying to convince her we need a matching scantily clad maid to help with the housework. So far, no luck.

Care to vacation in sunny (flat, boring) Oklahoma for a while?

It’s 85 outside right now, but my apartment is chilled to 72 with our central air. We’ve had some rain this summer so the grass hasn’t even turned that scorched golden-brown yet. We have lots of pools, too, if you like that kind of thing.

This is the first nice summer we’ve had in a long time. A couple years back we had that 108 days without rain…

Corr

Oh, Corrvin, that sounds sooo nice. 85 is just about the perfect summertime temp…
