Any other baseball fan happy to see that loudmouth redneck get demoted to the minor leagues? I am a New York Mets Fan, and I must say, I’m feeling bittersweet over the decision to ship the fucker down to the farm clubs. At the end of the month Atlanta is going to be in New York, playing the Mets. I guess I won’t be able to hurl my car battery at him this year. Apparently the 9 Volt Energizer battery didn’t do the trick last time =P
On a more serious note, he definitely had this coming. He just got done telling the world that he apologizes for his conduct, and for what he said about minorities, yet he threatens a Sports Illustrated writer this week. Sounds like the same old Rocker, opening his big mouth. I guess when you’re pitching great, you can get away with talking serious trash, but not when you’re walking people left and right, with no control over the ball. Hell, his own teammates were glad to see him go, and even went so far as calling him a “cancer” to the team. I won’t even get into what the Atlanta fans said about him.
I just wanted to take the opportunity to say ADIOS ASSHOLE! Enjoy AAA ball.
Y’know, I’ve been an Atlanta fan since I moved here over 11 years ago, and I’m glad to see Rocker sent down. Maybe if he hits bottom he’ll learn how to keep his mouth shut.
But Merlyn NY part of your post does kinda support one of the stupid things Rocker said. If your 9 volt battery is any indication, NY fans really are jerks.
Hurl invective, man; not projectiles.
Oh yeah, we’re in the Pit, aren’t we? Eh, poop on Valentine.
(Sorry for that, guys. I wasted all my good stuff in another thread.)

I personally didn’t hurl any batteries at Rocker. It was just a little twisted humor thrown in there. As far as NY fans being jerks, I don’t agree with that. Lets say Mike Piazza starts running his mouth, saying all the Atlanta Fans are a bunch of inbred, slackjawed hicks. Do you HONESTLY think the next time he plays against the Braves, that the Atlanta fans are going to greet him with roses and hugs? HELL NO! They’ll be one-upping NY fans and throwing cinderblocks at the guy! Can’t say I wouldn’t blame them either. You do NOT insite a crowd of a major sporting event. In a major city, that’s a big no-no. Do I condone people hurling batteries at Rocker? No, I don’t. Can I see the reason it was done? Yes, I can.
Do NY Fans get a little too much into their teams? Probably yes. BUT, you can’t say that for any other major city with a sports team. New Yorkers have a lot of pride in their chosen team, and when you insult the players or the fans, you’re bound to have it bite you in the ass later on.
Hell, if you think the Rocker/NY situation was bad, you should see the tension around here when the NY Mets and the (antichrist) NY Yankees go at it. =p

I was a little on the defensive Wally, if he meant nothing by it, I offer my apologies to him. It just seemed there was some insinuation going on there. I feel when I post on here I have a target on my head.
Sorry, Merlyn, obviously misinterpreted what you said. I have absolutely nothing against NY fans, I just hate to hear about crap like beer bottles, D cells, etc. thrown at any of these players.
Rocker definitely dug his own grave, and I’m not disputing the valid reaction he got from Mets fans. And if Piazza ran his mouth about Atlanta fans, he’d be sure to get alot of boo’s in the Ted, maybe even lukewarm drinks thrown at him, but you really just don’t see much bad behavior from Atlanta fans (unless you count the ‘Tomahawk Chop’ - even I find that obnoxious!).
Peace dude. Major league baseball just got rid of one more immature redneck asshole today. Now if we can just get rid of the career recidivist drug jockeys that get chance after chance after chance…
So, you’re the guy who’s gonna rock the boat eh? Pleased ta meetcha! Watch out for those flying batteries ok?
I’d address what you just wrote, but it’s 2am, and I’m low on brain cells. Another day.
