Goodbye, Oscar Gamble

He was taken from us too soon. Not a great ballplayer, but a pretty good one. Still, Oscar’s greatest contribution to the game was his baseball card photos, like this one from 1976. Why can’t more athletes forget those dreadlocks and grow righteous Afros these days?

His brother, Proctor N, can carry on his legacy. :frowning:

RIP Oscar. Thanks for the hits, the hair, and one of baseball’s greatest quotes.
“People don’t think it be like it is, but it do.”

Don’t forget “When I’m at bat, I’m in scoring position.”

He had an amazing ABPA Baseball Game card for 1979, when he hit .358 with 19 home runs in only 100 games.

And, of course, that amazing Afro.
