Goodfellas on Lifetime?

Damn, one of those missing OPs.

I believe they are focusing on the “married to the mob” angle. I’ve never seen the movie, but I’m sure someone as a wife.

Ok, that sort of explains it.

I was questioning why this is on Lifetime since it doesn’t seem to fit the genre of their programming for women.

Would sort of be like having Terms of Endearment on ESPN.

I don’t get it. Where’s the woman in peril? Been a while since I’ve seen the movie, but the only main female character I can recall was the one played (poorly) by Lorraine Bracco.

Personally, I think they just got a good deal on it and decided to boost their ratings, much like TNN and Star Trek…

Maybe someone can explain why “Coming to America” Has been on VH1, Movies that rock ?

Come on, don’t you remember Eddie Murphy’s hot single “Party all the time”?

Hey, I remember Eddie’s first musical attempt. The Dr. Demento classic “Boogie in Your Butt.”

I once watched Goodfellas on CBS and it was comical. Don’t get me wrong, it is one of the best films ever, but the edited version was PRETTY choppy.

I saw Silence of the Lambs on Lifetime a few years ago. The theme? “Movies For Girls Who Like Guys.”

Well, they did use to show “The Commish” and “Homicide: Life On The Street”. I always wondered what those shows had to do with women. Seemed much more male-oriented.

You seem to be forgetting the greatest band name in history comes from that movie. I’m speaking, of course, of Sexual Chocolate!

We’re probably expecting too much for cable channels to stick to the themes that they advertise. Look at AMC’s recent retooling. Predator? The Osterman Weekend? China Moon? Not to mention Eve’s favorite, that Italian crime/melodrama/crap fest Dog Eat Dog starring poor Jayne Mansfield in major career freefall.

Goodfellas does seem odd, but I guess they could always justify it by saying that Robert De Niro and Ray Liotta are popular with their core audience of female viewers 18-45. Although, I did read a NY Times article comparing Oxygen and Lifetime where Lifetime claimed nearly 40% of it’s prime time audience was male.

At least Silence Of The Lambs stars Jodie Foster and fits the Lifetime mold for movies. Women in peril, men to blame, woman kicks ass in the end.

If VH-1 wants movies that rock, where’s Streets Of Fire, The Warriors, or Highlander? None are directly related to music, but the music, attitude, and style of rock music (or the videos) figure into each one. It makes as much sense as Coming To America or Satisfaction.
