Sure it does. Scan down to the “Self” section of Larry Hovis’s credits.
“Laugh In” was their second time appearing on TV together. Hardly anyone heard their first…on 9 February 1964.
That’s very weird. Richard Dawson doesn’t have his Laugh-In credit listed under “Self”.
Not Mitzi McCall and Charlie Brill’s first time on TV together. They appeared on Vic Damone’s and Steven Allen’s variety shows in 1962, and Edie Adams’ variety show in 1963.
“I didn’t know that.”
I had no idea he was that old.
Hmm…Damone’s show must have been added since I last checked IMDb, and the others aren’t listed.
Can’t find it now but I recall an interview in which Mitzi said she and Charlie had been in the same show prior to Ed Sullivan but never on screen at the same time.
Hovis didn’t leave Laugh-In for Hogan’s Heroes. He was in Hogan for its entire run from 1965-1971. He did work on Laugh-In concurrently with his role on Hogan’s Heroes during 1968, but didn’t return until after Hogan was cancelled. Hogan’s Heroes was his main body of work during the run of that show.
Apologies for posting again but I think Mitzi may have meant Ed Sullivan was their first time on national television after marriage.
The TV listings for their appearance on the Vic Damone show in 1962 call them “the comedy team of Mitzi McCall and Charlie Brill”. They married in 1959.
Not according to the Washington Post: “McCall and Brill were newlyweds in 1964.”
Actually, I was wrong, they weren’t married in 1959. From the California marriage index, 1960-1985:
Name: Charles S. Brill
Age: 25
Spouse Name: Mitzi J. Steiner
Spouse Age: 25
Date: 25 Jan 1960
Location: Los Angeles
Well mom always did like him best.
Wrong Dick.
How often does a straight guy get to say a line like that?
