Oh man, that would have been fantastic! The competing egos, the competing over-acting… It would have been a classic.
I believe the pilot is on YouTube. It’s a hoot and a holler. I laugh out loud every time West addresses Shatner as “M’lord.”
Oddly enough, it was the produced by the same people who brought ***Combat! ***to the small sceen. Whatever could they have been thinking? :smack:
“Alexan-DER! Alexan-DER!”
Watching a couple of MTM episodes as part of my memorial tribute when Penny Marshall died, I was reflecting on this too. Mary, gone. Penny, gone. Ed, still with us. You wouldn’t have foreseen that in 1976.
West and Shatner were recently reunited in the animated DC movie Batman vs. Two-Face. West was the voice of Bruce Wayne/Batman, and Shatner played Harvey Dent/Two-Face. Dent was even drawn to appear like Shatner did in 1966.
I was trying to remember who played Ted’s father “Robert” on MTM. Turns out it was Liam Dunn, probably best known as “The Reverend ‘Are We Just Jerking Off?’ Johnson” in Blazing Saddles.
For those who don’t know, she was also Evelyn Harper’s bisexual lover in a couple of episodes of Two and a Half Men.
She was also the mother of Amy, Robert’s wife, in Everybody Loves Raymond. And she also married Exidor, Mork’s eccentric friend, on Mork and Mindy.
