I’m a pretty big fan of text emphasis. When I had a website, I made liberal use of the bold, underline, italics, color, and strikethrough tags, to a ridiculous extent.
I read an article some time ago about how people came up with their own text emphasis methods back in the good ol’ days of the 'Net, and I got to thinking about other methods of emphasis that could be made. I thought about text spacing (if you wish to convey speaking very quickly, you can make the text closer together, for example), and wondered if there are any programming languages/markup languages in existence that one can control text spacing.
If not, then I guess I’d better patent the idea right now, before someone steals it…
Now for the goofy thought (what, the first thought wasn’t the goofy one?). Doesn’t Einstürzende Neubauten’s ‘Was Ist Ist’ sound like a drinking song? I mean, I’m listening to it right now, and I’m imagining a bunch of Germans beer singing the chorus in a beer hall, mug of beer in hand… I’m thirsty.
