Check the date that your computer has, when I see that error it is usually because the date on the computer is off, (usually a c-mos battery failing) and then the security certificates do not work because they are also time dependent. (Your time may look ok at first glance but the year may be off)
Virus or malware: that was the biggest symptom the last time I got a virus. You probably won’t be able to access Yahoo, either. They don’t want you to be able to do a search for help and/or an anti-virus or malwarebytes. I believe I righted the issue by doing a system restore since it hadn’t been long when I worked out what the issue was.
It’s not the main Malware Bytes site, because often viruses won’t let you go to the main site to download. It also won’t let you install the file using its’ default name. If you have trouble installing the above download, change the name of the .exe file.
Posting this in case it comes up in someone’s search. Windows Defender struck out, but Malwarebytes found SearchProtect. Quarantining that let Google work again on a secure connection.
