Google Earth has disappeared... ??

Went to launch Google Earth from the desktop icon and the icon is missing… :eek:

I looked all over for the program. I went to my .exe folder and still had that in place… :confused:

Re installed and up pops, “You are hosed dude, we broke it good.” :mad:

Downloaded the latest .exe. and it laughed at me, same error…

They snuck in somehow and pulled it off my machine??? :eek:

Anyhow, it is gone and I have been reading, ever here how things were going to change soon… Well, they have here in N/W AR.

I was using it this morning, and I noticed it gone at 21:15.

Going to check the ‘maps’ on my “smarter than I am” phone… BRB

Well, I still have it working on my Smart android phone, LG if that might matter.

I wonder if it is just my machine??? :o

Everybody still have it or have some lost it to the electrons? :frowning:

Update: I have it and I don’t have it. I have the original install from several years ago and an install associated with my Garmin Forerunner. 2 icons were on the Desktop.
The original one is still there but the one for Garmin is gone and I can no longer open workouts to view in Google Earth. Says it’s not installed.

Well, I saw an “Through the Wormhole” with Morgan Freeman today. He was talking about that some scientists saying that it could all be our imagination. :eek:

Wife said she still had it… Looking around for kitty paw prints…

Found what looked like a link icon, so copy to desk, click and GE is back… Whew !!!

Well it all woke me up and made me start sweating os I won’t be going to sleep anytime soon. :smack:

I just installed it and had no problems. So, yeah, try a full uninstall and then reinstall the latest version.

Shit, the same just happened to me. The desktop icon is gone. I still have the program but I have no idea how that happened. Does anyone know?

It seems to be enough of an issue that Google have something about it on a support page:

I found that page by googling “google earth icon gone”. Indeed, googling the thread title minus the ellipses and the multiple question marks yields the same page as the top result.

There was an update recently. Sometimes the update deletes the icon and doesn’t put it back.

The idea of an “Icon Restorer Application” baffles me.

Perhaps it is a hand-holding application, easily findable for anyone who is able to use Google’s core “search” facility.

Google Earth recently gave every existing user the pro version for free, so who knows. The icon is a slightly different colour, that’s enough to confuse some folk.
