Google is sure dragging their feet on their extensions for Firefox 3

Only 4 of my Firefox extensions aren’t working for Firefox 3, and 3 of them are from Google. Google Browser Sync, Google Toolbar, Google Gears.

I hear Google Gears may be rendered obsolete by FF3, so maybe that one will never be updated. But I like using Browser Sync to sync my laptop FF to my desktop FF, and I find the Google toolbar pretty useful.

WTF Google? Let’s pick it up!

That’s the trouble with stuff that’s free. It limits the degree of outrage you can have about not being supported in a timely manner.

FF3 is still in beta, right? Google’s probably waiting for the final release, so that they don’t have to rerelease their gadgets if there any changes in the final version of Firefox.

True. But the other extensions are free too, and if anything I would have expected Google to be quicker than the others. But yeah, I can’t really get angry. Worst case scenario, I use one of the other sync products out there.

It’s past beta, and on Release Candidate 1. I doubt at this stage there will be anything but relatively minor bug fixes. I could be wrong, though.

Google Gears and Google Toolbar now work with Firefox 3, but Google Browser Sync is being retired. There’s something called Google Weave being worked that might have most or all the functions of Browser Sync, but it’s in early beta now I think.

Firefox 3 is live. Go get it.

And it seems to be a LOT snappier.

Only one of my addons did not work with it, and that was an unimportant one that I chucked anyways.

Started a specific Firefix 3 thread. Just fyi.
