I just found out about this site this morning, and it’s killed a good 15 minutes so far today:
Visit googlerace.com and plug in a keyword or two. The site runs multiple Google searches (as you might guess) and lets you know which presidential candidate is most linked to that keyword on the Web.
Examples:
Hollywood: Sharpton
oil: Bush
watercolor: Sharpton
eBay: Lieberman
iPod: Clark
atheist: Lieberman
NPR: Dean
McGovern: Kerry
Italy: Clark
monorail: Lieberman
Kennedy: Kerry
Lincoln: Sharpton
Bill Clinton: Lieberman
Calvin Coolidge: Bush
tuna: Kerry
salmon: Kerry
octopus: Kerry (what is it with this guy and marine life?)
sushi: Sharpton
and
Straight Dope: Lieberman
Things I’ve noticed:
Sharpton comes up a lot, especially with oddball words.
Dean rarely tops the field – I was sure Dean would top the McGovern list.
And the researchers, for some reason, decided to include Sharpton over Gephardt, which makes no sense to me.
