GOP and women's right to vote

Looks like we’re on the way to “The Handmaids Tale”. First the GOP/Supreme Court took away right to abortion. Then some Reps–men and women–wanted women to be housewives rather than workers, now from 8/12 YouTube

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recently shared a CNN video about the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches, a conservative Christian network of which he’s a member. The video showed its pastors arguing women should not have the right to vote.

what next?

Vote? What is this thing you call vote?

Something involving the right to vote, the census, and something about 3/5ths.

sorry, forgot the MO AG Bailey wants to abolish contraceptives so more babies/voters. Interesting though doesn’t include cobdoms

That one is going to be tougher, because women’s suffrage is in the constitution. And not an argument based on constitutional suppositions, but a goddam amendment, spelled out very clearly.

Just like the Fourteenth!

The Constitution is dead. The Republicans will just ignore that and declare women non-citizens, or outright non-human. Property that can be raped, tortured or killed by their male owners at whim.

If they believe that way for themselves (and yes, I’m talking about the women) that’s one thing. But this church is most likely such a small minority, it’s not going to be any kind of sizable movement at all.

Remember this phrase: Laws Do Not Enforce Themselves

So stomp on it with everything you’ve got to stop it from getting bigger…which is what we should have done with Trump in the first place, btw.

Well, nothing to worry about then. I’ll just go back to listening to speeches in this fine beer hall Christian church.

Screw those guys.

I’d be okay if the GOP were to agree that any woman’s vote for a Republican not count (votes for Democrats would still count, of course).

You mean, show us by example why their way is better?

Maybe the constitution is dead, but rough political equality for women is a pretty strong worldwide norm. Even in North Korea, known as one of the most male-dominated countries in the world, it looks like a woman would take over if the current leader died.

What about the 41 GOP women in Congress? I think they would have a say.

Pete Hegseth is not the dictator of the United States. Donald Trump is, and taking away women’s right to vote isn’t part of his shtick.

I don’t think there is a life insurance company on Earth that would take her on as a client.

Let’s run this past Pam Bondi, Kristi Noem, Linda McMahon, Tulsi Gabbert, and Susie Wiles and get them to sign on. No problemo, amirite?

On the contrary, the idea that women shouldn’t be allowed to vote has been a recurring idea pushed by the Republicans for many years now. This church is just a tiny fragment of a much larger movement.

Only until their citizenship is stripped and they are reduced to slavery, or just executed. Like every other woman in the US will be; a slave, or dead after a long bout of rape and torture.

Is this some sort of birth control that involves sticking a corncob in your hooha?

Many of them explicitly say that women shouldn’t be in elected office.
