People keep mentioning Hunter and I understand why given the noise over the last few years but Comer stated explicitly at his press conference and Jordan seemed to reinforce it that they intend this to be an investigation of Joe Biden’s supposed criminal behavior, not Hunter. Go look at the quotes I put in the OP. We will see how that goes but this is the main reason I believe this will fall flat with a loud THUD.
Hunter might end up being guilty of something but that is already being investigated by DOJ. I don’t see any possibility of these clowns pinning anything on the President.
That’s not their end game. They know this.
The point is to make a lot of sound and fury to help enrage the voters. They’ll make stuff up if they have to. As Lyndon Johnson supposedly said, I don’t care if it’s a lie, I just want to make the son of a bitch deny it.

My point is that they have clearly stated this is about investigating President Biden, not Hunter. That’s what I intended this thread to be about when I started it. We already have more than enough threads about Hunter Biden.
Little is gained by investigating Hunter. Ultimately holding a vote to impeach Biden is something they are salivating to do and that they believe will damage him in 2024. They know they have no chance in a Senate trial so this is just to get the base whipped up, pretty much as you said.
It’s also to perpetuate the idea that whoever controls the house investigates the other side and it’s entirely tit for tat partisan rather than something that should be taken seriously.
That’s a big part of it, I agree. The Dems impeached Trump for a perfect phone call! We’ll show how silly that was by impeaching Biden and removing the stigma of impeachment.

I’m sure they will stretch it out into dozens of hearings. Lots of insinuation with no facts. It will be red meat to their base, and the gullible will lap it up.
But anything significant, no. Nothing at all.
When the Republicans talk about political prosecutions, this is what they are talking about. They specifically said that they would do this as revenge for impeaching Trump. That statement alone proves their corruption, as if there was anything actually there, they should be doing it regardless of whether or not Trump were impeached.
But, as I said, there will be gullible and weak willed toadies who gobble it all up and regurgitate it. That’s the whole point. That’s the only point.
Because they have an extensive list of people Hunter did business with, they’re going to play Six Degrees of Separation. “Hunter discussed a business deal with John Smith, who used to work at the same law firm as Bob Jones. Bob Jones once participated in a business round table where Joe Biden was a speaker.
Corruption!
And they will make much over Hunter introducing his business associates to his dad, even though I haven’t seen any evidence that these meetings were substantial or even involved anything more than Joe shaking hands and wishing everyone good luck. But Corruption!
It’s not like Hunter worked in his dad’s administration with a portfolio centered around the Middle East, then received a two billion dollar “investment” from the government of one of of those countries as soon as his dad left office.
No doubt they will use Hunter and his activities as a way to get at President Biden but in the end the key objective, as they have stated, will be to investigate Joe Biden and his actions or “participation in enriching his family [which] is, in a word, abuse of the highest order.”
So “enriching his family” is the incredibly slender thread they intend to hang all this on. All to sully the reputation of a man who, while not perfect, has never had the slightest whiff of criminality about him.

I don’t have the time to wade through all 30 pages of that report but the Executive Summary is lamebrained beyond my expectations. Joe Biden stands accused of:
- False assurances to the American people
- Misuse of his public positions to enrich his family
- Potential exposure to being influenced, blackmailed or extorted by malign foreign powers
- Suspicious activities that warrant investigation
- Unanswered questions
- Efforts to obstruct the committees investigation (which is a neat trick since there isn’t a committee investigating any of this yet)
- TV pundits and social media sites not reporting this the way they want (not sure how that is Biden’s fault)
- Abuse of the Executive Branch for personal gain (this one made me laugh out loud)
- Potential violations of the Emoluments clause (another one that made me laugh)
There is more but really nothing that looks remotely like evidence of any crimes. If this is the best they can come up with this is going to be even more pathetic than I imagined.
My thoughts after reading it.
The crux of the investigation seems to be that family members of Joe Biden engaged in business while having the last name Biden. They seem to insinuate that Hunter Biden has no qualifications for business other than his dad’s name, when the reality is that he’s a Harvard Law Graduate that was employed in one of the nation’s most prestigious, high powered law firms.
And they imply that Hunter and his uncle promised that they could pull strings inside the government.
So what? There’s no evidence that they did so, and less than zero evidence that Joe Biden was aware they were making these promises.
The paper reiterates the bullshit accusation that “Joe Biden pushed for the firing of a prosecutor that was investigating the owner of Burisma”.
The actual facts about this are not in dispute. The government of Great Britain had spent time and money on an investigation that resulted in the seizure of funds that belonged to the of Burisma, with the intent of returning them to the Ukrainian people.
The Ukrainian prosecutor investigating the case was in cahoots with the owner of Burisma, and deliberately botched the investigation from his end, which resulted in the money being returned to the owner of Burisma. This caused widespread international outrage, and many figures in Western politics, including Joe Biden, pushed for the corrupt prosecutor to be fired. Joe Biden did not hesitate to push for the ouster of this guy, even though he was a crony of his son’s business associate.
So any source that twists this completely around into an accusation that Joe performed an action that helped his son’s associate, when the opposite was true, is really suspect and it impinges on the credibility of anything else they say.
I don’t doubt that Hunter had large financial transactions that may have generated suspicious activity reports. It’s probably true that he paid prostitutes. But none of that has anything to do with Joe Biden. Unlike the three oldest Trump children, Hunter has lead a life independent from his father, and has never worked for his father in any professional or political capacity.
And the Biden children made money from book deals? That’s the biggest So What? yet. Do you not know that’s sort of typical for the children of Presidents, including Ivanka Trump and Don Trump Jr?
Kids with famous parents have advantages because of who their parents are. That’s not a scandal, that’s reality.
They are just trying to punish the man that dared to unseat their God King, and sending a message that they will harass the families of anyone else that goes up against their Lord and Master.

I know it’s become a meme but it really is true. Every accusation is a confession with these people.
