GOP still trending to win Senate

Whether or not the Democrats choose those tactics will have everything to do with politics, and have nothing to do with being collegial. Republicans obstructed because that’s what wins the elections. The same is not necessarily true for Democrats.

Call a Democratic politician un-American and the whining will reach such levels that they’ll hear it in Tibet. The Republicans do not go to such lengths to demonize Tom Steyer, and because of that, even most informed liberals have no idea who he is.

The Democrats demonize the Kochs to distract from their record. The Kochs’ attacks are only as lethal as they are because of the Democrats’ record. And that’s the only reason the Democrats spend so much time attacking them is because they are a threat. After this election, it will be Kochs 2, Democrats 1.

Democrats will obstruct because that is what is good for the country. That is the difference between Democrats and Republicans.

Wow, ignorance and naivete in one sentence.

The Democratic Party only has the power they do because their supporters are okay with being lied to. Or more accurately, their supporters know the lies but are okay with it because it’s “the rubes” who are being lied to. They are in on the secret. But I guess if you believe it’s all for the good of the country, then any means are moral.

The whole reason the Tea Party is “crazy” is because we don’t let our guys get away with hiding their true beliefs like progressives do.

But anyway, Democrats can’t actually obstruct. The Republicans can get the Democrats they need to break filibusters on any votes but those threatening the most long cherished Democratic priorities. After 2010 and 2014, red state Democrats aren’t going to fall on their swords for the leadership anymore. Not only did the leadership fail to protect them, but the Democratic base has only disdain for them. They’ll find working with Republicans to be much more rewarding.

Very funny to read this:

Followed by this:

You’re just so, so deluded when it comes to how people who vote Democratic actually think. Please, stop trying. Why not just ask? There are plenty of Democratic voters and leaners here… why do you spout this sorts of nonsense about how Democrats think when you could just ask what we think?

Because I fear you might actually believe them, which would be scarier. Measure believes Harry Reid is a man of integrity. Fear Itself believes that Democrats do what’s best for the country. Pretty scary stuff there.

Obama is still the best president since, well, Clinton? Eisenhower? Truman? first Bush? He’s done remarkably well by using only moderate influence to get the results the country needed. the best president the Republicans never elected.

Everything you say needs a cite, so cite. And you’re basically admitting here that you make up what you think Democrats actually believe.

Republicans, on the other hand, have such power as they possess because they give their supporters a wink and say, “We know what you want. We can’t say it out loud, but we know, and that’s what we’ll give you.”

No. I remember well the Obama gay marriage thing. He got pretty much no heat from it, and the commentary on the right, which I thought was entirely justified, was that he, and other Democrats got no heat, while Republicans were “haters”, because Democratic supporters simply assumed they were lying to appease the rubes.

Now we see red state Democrats insisting they are not supporters of the President, they aren’t supporters of Harry Reid. The President gave the game away by telling his audience that they are supporters of his, they are just saying what they have to say to get reelected. See, it’s our little secret among us progressives. Guess he forgot it’s the internet age.

Given the sausage factory the law came from, Obamacare is doing pretty well. Yet, Republicans get votes simply by saying they will work to repeal it. Why is that? Because Republicans want, but don’t want to say it, to stop government from helping the poor. Some Dems believe that a socialist democracy, a la the Scandinavian model, would be paradise. some Reps think it would be pure hell.

Those pov’s aren’t going to change for individuals, but, over time, will change toward the Dems in the population as a whole. (and politicians will continue to say what they need to say to get votes)

They do say it out loud, and every word is used against them. But that’s better than pretending to be a moderate when you’re not.

In this argument, liberals’ own arguments condemn them. Supposedly, us Tea Partiers are idiots, nothing like the more sophisticated progressive base. Yet our politicians don’t tell us they are moderates when they aren’t. Yours do. You’re either sophisticated enough to see through the ruse, or you are actually dumber than the Tea Partiers you attack so gleefully for ignorance.

Politicians will also continue to give themselves lives and benefits that the richest barons and kings of antiquity would have envied and would have sacrificed half their population to obtain.

You should ask yourselves why Republicans can come right out and say they oppose these programs, whereas Democrats can’t even bring themselves to say that they support ACA. But I guess when you can’t even say you’d support Obama, how can you say you would have supported ACA?

In a world where progressives were honest with themselves and others, failure to fully support the President you voted for should be disqualifying. I’m sure none of you believe for an instant that any of these Democrats voted for Romney. But you put up with it, because “they have to say what they have to say.”

Truly, speaking for me only, I say what I believe. You are desperately afraid that I believe something far more radically leftist, so you call me a liar. I happen to believe that what you say you believe in is misguided and will eventually be moderated and worn out, but I would never say you are lying about your beliefs.

I think that’s a bit much too. I’m not so naive to believe politicians just want what’s best for America, but I don’t think they are as bad some make out. Some of them are crooks, some are honest crusaders(otherwise known as “loons” by opponents and even some allies), and some even just like the cozy job and will do anything to keep it. Of course, no incumbent who loses today will be impoverished. Their friends will see to it that they are well taken care of for their past services if they have no ability to make money in the private sector based on their actual talent.

If that’s true, why are Democrats seeking re-election this year generally hiding from their earlier support of the ACA?

What you’ve said seems to apply even more to Democrats – or, at least, to Democrats in competitive races this year.

Why would anyone get heat for coming to the correct position? He did get heat from gay voters and supporters of gay marriage before he changed his position – but they still voted for him, because the alternative was much worse on gay issues.

Right – in many cases they’re lying. So what? Who denies it? I’d much, much rather vote for a liar who will support and advocate for the positions that I think are the right ones, than an honest man who opposes them. Santorum may be honest, but he’s wrong on nearly every issue (in addition to being a science-denying idiot) and would greatly weaken America were he in power.

He “gave the game away” by saying something true that everyone knows is true? What a joke.

I just told you how this Democrat, and many others, think about these things – and why we vote the way we do. Try to keep this in mind next time you feel compelled to delve into the psyche of Democratic voters.

You’ve demonstrated that here. Measure and Fear Itself, and iiandyii by inference, have demonstrated otherwise. Iiandyii even believes that Charlie Crist is a sincere Democrat, which is the funniest thing I’d ever heard before Measure said that Harry Reid was a man of integrity.

No it’s not. It’s much, much worse when the positions are as bad as they are.
