My backyard landscaping is finally complete. As a reward for all the effort I put into it, I rewarded myself with an Oklahoma Joes Texas Wrangler style barbecue smoker yesterday. It’s a lot like the New Braunfels Hondo. It comes with an external firebox, a double air-damper system, an external flat plate to keep my food warm, and a gas igniter (to light the charcoal/woodchips, not to cook on, ya damn Yankees). I’m thinking that, in addition to the “special” meals and social gatherings I’d use it for, I could also grill up some chicken/fish/veggie dinners for the week, then wrap them in foil to be heated up later (probably not as tasty as fresh-off-the-grill, but better than what I usually eat). Even though I keep an eye on what I eat, I think I’ll end up eating even healthier this way, especially with the added veggies (I don’t care much for vegetables unless they’re grilled).
Of course, what I like most about my new smoker is that it comes with a pair of DORRANCE #5X STAINLESS STEEL HOOKS.
