Got some lump crabmeat

and some shrimp. About a half pound of each.

I’m not in the mood for crabcakes, and I’m trying to eat light, so I’ll pass if the recipe involves pounds of butter, but I’m open for suggestions.

Any ideas?

Pasta?

Cook up some linguine. Meanwhile, saute some onions or shallots and garlic in butter or olive oil. Throw in some clam juice. When linguine is done, drain it and add to sauce pan with clam juice, onions/shallots and garlic. Toss to coat, throw in some freshly grated parmesan to bind, and then throw in the shrimp and crab. (if the shrimp isn’t pre-cooked, add it with the onions and shallots and saute until done.) Season with salt and pepper. You can also throw in a tablespoon or so of cream if you want - it adds a lot of taste, but you said you wanted light.

Stir Fry rice!!!

Cook up some rice first set it aside, choose your veggies(scallions, green papper, bean sprouts, carrot shrooms) chop em up and stir fry, add a beaten egg then the rice then your crab meat. Mix well. Douse with soy sauce to your desired darkness and garnish with sesame oil. Ym Yum.

Stuffed Portobello mushrooms. If you get the really big caps it’s an entire meal. Sautee some chopped red pepper, celery (and onion if you wants) in a little olive oil. Mix lump crabmeat/chopped shrimp with sauteed mixture in bowl. Add 2 tbsp. mayonnaise and a handful of bread crumbs. Mix well. Clean mushrooms and spray with Olive Oil Pam or coat with a little olive oil. Stuff mushrooms, grind pepper over them, and bake for approx. 20 minutes at 350…just make sure the mushroom doesn’t dry out. You still want them juicey but the water should release. If you aren’t severely restricting calories you can top the mushrooms with a smattering of grated parmesan.

Seafood Bisque

a can of tomato soup
a cup of half and half or milk
8 oz (more or less) of crab, shrimp and or lobster
2T dry sherry (optional, but essential in my mind)
1T lemon juice
1T chopped chives(if you’ve got 'em)

Heat soup with milky stuff until hot

Stir in seafood and other stuff. Cook and stir till heated through

Tp with chives

Ooh! You could try my Bodypoet’s Shrimpy Cheezy Delite. (Or whatever I’ve named it…there’s a thread here somewhere.)

Layer cooked 4 cheese ravioli, your seafood, some drained spinach. Cover with Vodka Sauce (I bought Emeril’s, on special, of course) and pizza-blend cheese.

Sort of like a lasagna but easier, and seafoodier.

Aside from the ravioli, I don’t think it would be too fattening, although that’s a relative idea, I guess.

Best,
karol

Risotto’s always nice. You can make it with olive oil instead of butter.

Or au gratin style with fresh breadcrumbs, a bit of onion and garlic, and olive oil.

Or pan roast, which is a little heavier, with a bit of butter, onion, half and half, sherry, chili sauce and Worcestershire.

Make a white pizza.

Make a Mexican seafood cocktail with some Clamato, avocado, white onion, ketchup, Worcestershire and Tapatio or Tabasco to taste. Or a tostada with olive oil, lemon, avocado, Tapatio.

Shall I go on?

There’s a recipe from the New York Times for crab cakes that looks pretty good (scroll down the page):

Well, I ended up putting it away until tomorrow.

If I get motivated, I will make some pasta and do homemade crab ravioli, or else I will do the white pizza.

I make a killer white pizza with crab, shrimp, and scallops with roasted garlic, olive oil, and cheese. I would have done it tonight except I almost always do it on the grill and it is cold and dark out.

Thanks for the ideas!
