This week they held a MEGAPOD event and I got in–and I cannot over-state how impressively efficient it was. We queue up when they yelled out our time-slot and they let us in by groups of 14. You had your temp taken by one of the many people standing by, then a revolving gaggle of agents with iPads walked along side you checking you in as you made your way to the convention hall. Ushered to a chair, and by the time I got my jacket off the cart was there, filling out my Vax Card, shot, done, moved along. I calculated they were doing one shot per minute across all 14 rows of chairs (hence the groups of 14) which means for the 15 minutes you have to sit and wait to be sure there’s no ill effects, they can vaccinate 210 people. Ultimately, they got just shy of 10,000 people vaccinated IN ONE DAY IN ONE ROOM.
Unbelievable.
But a BIG part of why it went so fast were these special foam “band-aid” things…They did not require the typical application of pressure via a cotton ball + a regular band-aid. They applied the foam circle first, then shot me THROUGH the membrane part in the middle, dispatched the used needle, and moved along. This really moved the process along because there was no holding pressure on it or anything like that.
Are these NEW for COVID vaccine expedience…or have I just not had a shot in so long the cotton-ball held-in-place for a few minutes method is no longer used?
