What does that have to do with what one guy who doesn’t even work there has to say?
And if he’d been video taped saying, “those friggin’ Greenpeace activists are nuts,” would we be reading this story? Would anybody care? I doubt it. For certain, Pimp O’Keefe would have recorded Frat Boy porn over it already.
This is stuff well informed liberals already know, and conservatives do not care about truth or reality, only tribalist dogma, so these would have zero effect whatsoever on the liars.
If Republican economic theory isnt refuted from all the red states being last in economu and education and being on the dole, nothing will.
Bad analogy, but I don’t know what story we’d be reading in some hypothetical. You don’t get to make up something that didn’t happen in order to prove your point about what did happen.
ACORN wasn’t a victim or a perpetrator in that instance so much as they were a crime scene. The brother of the founder and CEO of ACORN was the embezzler, and when the crime was revealed to the CEO, he deliberately kept the matter a secret from other employees of ACORN and ACORN’s board.
That was the “embezzlement cover-up, which triggered the firing of ACORN’s founder.” This has been pointed out to you numberless times. Not that you care.
I don’t? Why, because you know precisely the point I’m making?
O’Keefe fluffed himself up once more by getting a liberal to say something that a broad cross-section of liberals think and this is suppose to be some big scandal. You and I and the lampost all know that if O’Keefe had gotten this guy to admit to jacking off with his hand-gun while painting pictures of bald eagles with tears in their eyes, nothing in this story would have seen the light of day.
Because there is no way to prove a hypothetical like that either way. But that was only the secondary reason. The primary reason was that it was a bad analogy.
Starving Artist: *Man and God at Yale *was basically a book-length whine that there actually existed people who don’t worship capitalism and who don’t accept Catholicism. I think Buckley is actually a good writer, but that book is nothing but the rantings of a spoiled, sheltered kid who was shocked to meet reality.
As for the majority of kids in the '60’s being hippies, you don’t have a fucking clue. Just because people smoked dope, wore bell bottoms and fornicated like weasels in heat doesn’t mean they bought in to the Left’s agenda. The majority of the kids in the '60’s were no more radical than their parents; only a tiny percentage were hippies.
As to the right having no voice for most of the 20th Century, ROTFLMAO. Tell that to the people at Hooverville and the union members in places in Harlan Co., Kentucky, who had the shit knocked out of them; tell that to the blacks lynched in the Midwest and the South; tell that to incredible geniuses like Billy Holiday who had to use segregated restrooms, eat in segregated restaurants and stay in segregatred hotels while touring the oh-so-liberal South; tell that to all the people arrested for homosexuality; and tell that to the women who weren’t allowed to get bank loans in their own name.
Hollywood’s liberal? El Stupido, you can count on the fingers of both hands the number of blacks who have won Oscars.
And conservaties are as big as cowards as the liberals. People like you are terrified that people might acutally like to sleep with the same sex, you don’t like dark hide, you don’t like the fact that some of us smoke marijuana, you don’t like people who actually suggest the U.S.A. has some flaws and those need to be fixed, and you can’t stand the fact that some of us are not whole-hearted worshippers of capitalism. (If Republicans possed any shreds of decency and honesty, they would admit that the majority, if not all of them, worship Mars and Dis, rather than the White Christ.)
I live in Indiana and there’s no more Republican state in the Union east of the Mississippi and north of the Ohio. In this state, those wonderful conservatives who “are happily going along” are passing laws requiring that everyone show their ID in liqour stores (even 51-year-old men like me who have silver in our hair and great white patches in our beards – if you think I’m under 21, you’re blind or a goddam idiot.), passing laws that people undertake a special class or pay four times the normal price for a marriage license, working to amend the state constitution to ban gay marriage. Live and let live? It is to laugh.
In conclusion, Starving Artist, I must conclude that either you are dumber than a block of sandstone or one of the biggest liars since Ananias.
No. Neither do they throw out breaking news bulletins because a Republican congress person went on record stating something right-wing and already well covered, like, oh, I don’t know that National Public Radio be de-funded or something…
Mace. Relax. I’m not trying to *prove *anything. I’m making a valid point that I know you understand despite my using a hypothetical to argue it.
This is more ado about practially nothing because Pimpy O’Keefe got to show a liberal saying something liberal on candid camera as though he were busting up the Mafia or something.
Yes. And rather than report the embezzlement, they covered it up.
That’s why the statement reads, “…the disclosure in June 2008 of an embezzlement cover-up…”
Perhaps your monitor was blurry and you didn’t see those words.
Of course, that generous theory does not explain the approximately 14,340,271 previous times you have raised this objection and been reminded that the coverup, not the embezzlement, was the issue. Perhaps amnesia is to blame – have you suffered a recent trauma to the skull?
Of course it woudn’t, but what’s your point? O’Keefe is a conservative activist looking to damage liberals. He doesn’t pretend to be a non-partisan investigative journalist.
We started our little discussion when you said you were confused about why this was such a big deal since all media outlets do this sort of thing. But NPR is different. It gets federal funding.
Now, you’re perfectly free to advocate for NPR getting federal funding. But it’s a big thorn in a lot of people’s sides, and when you have the guy at NPR who is the president of the fundraising arm say they don’t need federal funds… well, that’s kind of a big deal. Throw in some confirmation about “liberal bias”, and you’ve got a nice little tea pot in which to brew a tempest.
It’s not as good as Charlie Sheen, but it makes good copy. And it’s serious enough that the CEO of NPR just resigned. She’s no wilting flower.
Oh come on. There is quite a difference between calling a group like Greenpeace nuts and labeling millions of people racist.
That’s one problem with the left, they throw around the race card so often that it has almost come to mean: you’re a racist because you don’t agree with me.
Why? Are Greenpeace members actually insane, or do right-wingers just not like them? Calling them crazy is a pretty nasty insult to Greenpiece, wouldn’t you say? On other hand, were there racist elements laid bare among some (not all) Tea Partiers? Most fucking definitely.
So congratulations once again to James ‘Huggy-Bear’ O’Keefe, for letting us know that liberals hold liberal opinions. I look forward to him taking over 60 Minutes.
If I get something stolen out of my garage and don’t call the cops, am I a criminal?
It’s pathetic the way you righties try to spin this story as somehow indicative of ACORN itself being corript. They were stolen FROM. It wasn’t their fault. It was “covered up” by the guy who was stealing fom them. This is a fake scandal, and it’s an evasion from the point that O’Keefe faked his videos and cost a lot of innocent people their jobs because of his own fraud and deception. Why doesn’t THAT bother you?
Nope, they’re called racist because they use racist slogans and pictures and code words.
At worst you can accuse the left of being too free with guilt by association, but then the right isn’t any better there either, being happy to paint all liberals with the extremist brush.
