Maybe the villian after the electrocutioner can be wood-chipper man, and Barbara can be his first and only victim. I’m sure Jim will have an appropriate level of pathos over losing [del]the albatross around his neck[/del] the true love of his life.
Happened in a rather popular author (who likes twist endings)'s book. As I recall, the staff humored her..
Why did Gordon’s uniform have three chevrons on the sleeve but only two on the collar? Don’t tv shows have wardrobe staff?
I’m about three episodes from dropping this show.
I spotted that, too. I started to wonder if he’d been demoted at some point.
Well, I thought last night’s episode was great.
Gordon gets his job back - needed to happen. The way he took out the electrocutioner (great name) was hilarious. I loved the expression on Jack’s face. Bullock’s interactions were great too: I couldn’t decide if “You THINK you’ve been careful?” and “There is no rebellious fire in my belly” were better.
Nice to see Dr. Tompkins again. She is much better for Jim than Barbara. Although I think no jury would have convicted if Jim had whacked that cop for interrupting them.
Speaking of Barbara, wow that was an awkward scene with her parents. Makes me glad I’m not rich if that’s how they act (I know they aren’t all like that).
Nice to see Fish get her comeuppance. Sorry that Liza had to die, but that’s what you get when you lie with dogs. The only part that surprised me was that it took Falcone so long to man up and realize he was being played. I expected him to send Victor out to whack all of them but Fish, instead Victor is the one trying to talk him out of going to the country. Didn’t make sense.
All in all, very solid episode.
Yeah, that was a pretty good ep. Let’s not forget the good doctor is a doctor at Arkham Asylum. Surely she’s not a normal girl.
Wonder if Fish is done, or she’ll escape somehow.
Dr. Leslie Thompkins is a comic book regular, a bit older than Gordon. She runs a free clinic and patches up Batman when he gets cut up and Alfred is not done with his chores. She knows his secret identity and is probably the least goofy person in the DC universe.
Thompkins is one of the saints of the comic book world. She has a heart of gold and a kind word for everyone. She probably works at Arkham because she thinks that’s where she’s needed the most.
I sorta suspect that the next episode will not be Fish’s last. She’s been too big a character to go away after less than a season. Even if that makes no sense story-wise.
I don’t remember Fish from the comic books, does that mean they can kill her off. I love Fish and Butch as villains. But as traitors, Falcone has to kill them.
Fish is a new creation for the show - she’s not in the comics.
The previews for next week show her being tortured, but there’s plenty of possibilities: She escapes out of luck when the torturer screws up. Penguin ‘rescues’ her so he can have a lackey. She bribed the torturer long ago to let her go if it ever came to this. Gordon finds her and rescues her before she gets whacked.
Please tell us all the spoilers!
Fish was an underling of Falcone and had a crew with his permission. If she somehow escapes and aligns with another Don, say Marone, Falcone still has to have her whacked.
The guy that played the villain this week had really good crazy eyes.
Show was renewed for another season (same bat time, same bat channel). So the writers will have a chance to work out some of the rough edges.
That is Christopher Heyderdahl, great-grand-nephew of explorer Thor Heyerdahl. He specializes in villainous scenery chewing.
This show is growing on me. I think they’ve put a lot of thought into the casting. The actor playing Falcone was wonderful this week…but the guy playing Penguin is the standout every week.
Yeah, and that’s great. I am getting rather tired of too much damn Joker.
Good news! I’m willing to stick with the show and see where it goes.
The bald villain with the crazy eyes? He’s cool, villain-wise. He was so bummed he didn’t get to go out and kill. He really wanted to. I’d have liked to see the scene where Falcone decides to let him have his wish, but that would have ruined the surprise.
I’m not sure I understand this. Can you clarify?
I asked my husband (Doper Andy L) who has an icepick these days. “Hipsters!” he said.
When Selina asked Bruce what kind of weirdo plays chess with himself, my husband gave Bruce the following dialogue: “I’m only doing it until I need glasses.”
(My turn) What’s up with Gotham that villains don’t just kill people right off? It’s not just the bat villains in the future, the mob bosses aren’t killing people right away (except Liza) either. Either Fish or Penguin, not both, should have made it through the end of the episode alive.
And I may have said this before, but I’d love to see a crossover in which forensic scientists Barry Allen and Ed Nigma team up. (Sisco could give the latter his nickname.) Yeah, I know, it won’t happen. Still fun to imagine.
I can’t decide about the show. Or, rather, I can’t decide about the longevity of the show. It seems as if right now is the perfect time for Batman to show up, but that’s at least a decade away, if not more! It’s truly like a comic where they have mostly good drama episodes but don’t think about long term things or what they have introduced, such as what DD said about one or the other character surviving, not both.
It’s a bummer as the show won me over after a few episodes, when it calmed down, but now it’s losing me again.
