Gotham (new show on Fox)

That’s what I thought, then I didn’t post it because I know this incarnation is supposed to stand alone and have nothing to do with previous batman retellings. Maybe both actresses were both cast because of a feline quality that they happen to share.

I’m betting that her ability as a dancer had a lot to do with her casting, as well. Here she is at the 2013 World of Dance competition with her crew, 8 Flavahs:

The girl is remarkably light on her feet, and agile, both important qualities for "Catwoman".

As far as her looks, I agree with everything you said. Though she does remind me of somebody, but I can’t put my finger on who. I have a vague notion of some actress who was famous in the 1960s, but, that may simply be a side effect of her hair style on the show. OTOH, I’m a fan of the look of Eastern European women, so maybe she just looks like someone whose photo I saw at some point.

I’m also going with a Michelle Pfeiffer look. Her eyes are wide apart in the very same way as Michelle Pfeiffer and Emma Stone. Michelle Pfeiffer was cast because she is a box office draw and has been since Scarface.

Jackie Kennedy’s much prettier granddaughter? The one who doesn’t look like she was kicked in the head by her show hunter?

I bought the season pass for Gotham way back in the fall to have something to watch while traveling.

I watching the first 3 episodes, but it didn’t really do much for me (found it dull, contrived and formulaic).

Has it improved as the season went along?

Yes, quite a bit. The Penguin has really evolved.

Eh, well it’s better than a poke in the eye with a blunt spoon.

That clip is amazing! Even if I didn’t know who she was, my eye would naturally be drawn to her. In other words, she has what’s called presence.

A lot of the scenes were dark, but were they consistent in keeping Fish’s eye blue? (it didn’t look like it to me, but I couldn’t tell for sure)

The daughter / Penguin interaction was interesting. “You look like a bird. I LOVE birds…” (to death)

This show does creepy pretty well. What’s that doctors name, Dollmacher or something?

“What has hands, but can’t clap?”
“A clock.”
“He’s good! I’ll stump ya next time!”

I think Nygma just turned a little more evil.

I find myself constantly surprised at each new layer of “there” to which they go.

Last night I said "okay, I’m *just about *recovered from Fish’s eyeball, and now I have to hear some crazy bitch talking about smooshing birdies AND THEN the Ma and Pa kettle massacre. Whatever the hell next?

I’m not complaining really, I guess I just didn’t realize how liberal the broadcast networks are getting with the graphic violence.

There were a few scenes where it looked brown to me. I wonder if Jada Pinkett Smith is only wearing the contacts when it’s really necessary.

IMDB says it’s Dulmacher, but yes, that is one creepy dude.

The problem for me is that he’s part of the Fish storyline, and I just don’t give a crap about Fish anymore. Kill her and let the rest of the show move on.

Also, was it just me, or did the former manager look really, really bad with the CGI?

I feel really bad for Ed - he is just head over heels with the admittedly cute Ms. Kringle. But she apparently only dates asshole cops. Interesting to think if Mr. Nygma could only get laid, he might never become a villian. As good a motivation if any.
Also, is it just me, or what that incredibly naive of Gordon and Dent to bust in to the bookie’s underground and expect to just be handed the dirt on the Commish? I mean seriously, that was not smart of either of them.

I will say, in favor of the show, that I did not see the twist with Miriam coming.

Just occurred to me–the current mob boss is Falcone, (falcon) and he’s going to be replaced by a Penguin.

Alfred’s teaching Bruce to fight, and now he’s teaching him to handle violence himself instead of going to the police. (Although that actually started with the kid who insulted his mother, I guess.)

Wondering when they’re going to find the Batcave. Maybe that will happen in the series finale…

Yep, it’s time to move on. She is boring now.

The ending reveal that the hospital is on an island wasn’t that shocking. I kinda figured that was the case anyway, and the island probably isn’t far from Gotham, wherever that is. It would have to be regularly resupplied, plus they have wealthy patients coming and going. It won’t be hard to steal some transport off that island.

What Fish should do is get herself in charge of kidnapping people from Gotham. She can go after her enemies. Penguin, for sure.

It was winter on the island but not in the city, for what that’s worth.
Anyway, the Mooney subplot has gotten sufficiently tiresome and implausible to lose my interest. Had Jeffrey Combs stayed involved, I might not fast-forward over it in future, but for Mooney to resort to spiteful self-mutilation instead of homicide destroys my suspension of disbelief.

Yes, Dollmacher. It’s German for “doll maker.”

Yes, I knew that. I think I heard his name last week, and figured he was doll making.

There was snow all over the roads when Bullock was threatening Loeb’s ex-partner. It’s wintertime in both places.

That said, for the amount Dulmacher is probably charging for black-market kidneys, he could be in Antarctica and his client wouldn’t bat an eye at the expense of a plane down there.
