GovernmentMan, you're creeping everybody out

Yep, I was also on the verge of starting this thread myself, and would have written basically the same OP as jjimm. Personally, I think the creepiest part is the fact that he looks at a few pictures and/or videos of girls who are (ostensibly) strangers, and projects an entire life onto them:

And actually, it’s not even a *life *he’s imagining for these girls, or even a personality, really - just a set of interests. And then, he judges whether or not he likes them based on those interests. It would be like me saying, “Hey everyone, do you like outdoorsy-type guys like this? http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/AverageMan1.jpg” And then, when everyone rightly asks how in the hell I determined this guy is outdoorsy, I say, “Isn’t it obvious that he’s the type of guy who loves hiking in the forest and riding mountain bikes and fishing, and probably brews his own beer? Where can I find a guy like that?”

It’s just weird.

And it’s especially ridiculous in the case of the “small town girl”, since they are clearly staged photos. In fact - and I really hesitate to even say this, for fear of encouraging him - I searched for them on tineye and found them on the flickr page of the singer/guitarist for the very indie-looking band Eisley, which is apparently popular with… wait for it… hipsters.

I think Bob Ducca has it exactly right. He’s looking for some kind of quirky, charming fantasy girl who does not exist in nature, and clearly has very limited interaction with actual women. It’s no crime, and hopefully, he’s young and will grow out of it, but it’s defintely creepy.
