this girl looks like the typical hipster indie girl you’d see in Brooklyn, Portland, or LA hanging out at cafes, watching foreign and quirky indie films, going to record shops, probably is into arts and crafts, interior design, boutique hotels, photo booths, craft beer, banjos , sea otters and hedgehogs, probably a foodie and plans on living in a vintage airstream some day
She’s a young, skinny, feminine girl with an exceptionally pretty face as well as clean hair and a lovely complexion (those last two in stark contrast to many ‘hipster’ girls I see…) Most guys would be attracted to her, her interests, haircut and the trendiness of her wardrobe aren’t particularly consequential.
shrug Some do.
ETA: I read that as “DO GUYS” rather than “DO YOU GUYS.” I asked my husband. He said, everyone has hobbies,.
It’s really strange how certain cultural and physical types get associated. I mean, what do any of the interests you listed have to do with being skinny and brunette?
I don’t really know any hipsters, but I think some of them are cute.
I love girls who play acoustic guitars less with less than perfect technique and makeshift capos…
Oh, yeah, and she kind of pretty, too.
I won’t ask you for her number, though, I’m sure she has no shortage of boys who want to ride bikes with her.
When did I say anything about her skinniness and hair color?
But you can just tell that this girl is the type that enjoys farmers markets, France, bikes, vintage typewriters, film festivals, art shows, vespa scooters, Mcsweeny’s, This American Life, etc
they’re both really good looking but as soon as I saw the guitar I became annoyed.
You didn’t say anything about it. It’s just more often than not how “hipster indie girls” seem to look, in my experience. Kind of a mysterious phenomenon, if it exists.
Actually, my opinion that all hipster indie girls look alike may have be influenced by the thread title indicating that you were linking to two different girls. (They’re the same person, jz78817.)
Both? It’s the same girl, just with a different haircut in each video.
That said, how can you take these videos and get hipster from them? She’s wearing rather regular clothes playing a guitar and singing. That makes everyone from Sheryl Crow to your childhood camp counselor a hipster.
It’s because they watched “Ghost World” and for some reason DIDN’T want to punch Thora Birch’s character in the face.
She’s an attractive girl who has bothered to try to learn an art form and perform it with some level of sincerity. What’s not to like?
Sheryl Crow doesn’t look indie hipster. This girl does
You can tell just by looking at her that she probably likes Wes Anderson
Also, her song choices should should be the final proof if her general style / vibe didn’t already clue you in.
But how? Is it all in the hairstyle/clothing/makeup decisions, or are some people just born looking like hipsters?
Does anyone know what a hipster’s bedroom is supposed to look like? I would expect there might be more shit hanging on the walls, but I am out of the loop on the hipster scene. I did notice a beret hanging from a hook in the second video. Is that possible evidence of hipsterhood?
She’s not a hipster, she’s just Canadian.
How? What about her clothes or her “look” makes her a hipster?
Looking at her YouTube channel page, she seems more like an indie nerd girl than a hipster. And indie nerd girls are the natural enemies of hipsters.
I don’t know if you meant “guys” as in men only, but just in case, I’m a straight female. I think the girls in those films are very gorgeous and very irritating.
like I said, I got annoyed instantly so I didn’t watch for long enough to realize that :smack:
What is with all the hipster hate? So you don’t like the fashion choice. Big whoop. Don’t dress that way. I am not a hipster in any way shape or form, but from your list I like:
Cafes
Arts and crafts
Interior design
Boutique hotels
Photo booths - Who doesn’t like photo booths? They are just plain fun. One of my favorite photos is of my husband and daughter in a photo booth.
Craft beer - I like my beer to come with flavor, most popular brands taste like water to me
Sea otters and hedgehogs - cute
Foodie
Farmers market - fresh local food =yum
France - on my list of places I want to visit
Art shows - it’s true I like art and culture
Does this make me a hipster? Note that I am not skinny, don’t dress in the hipster style, but I will admit that I do know some hipsters, and while I don’t hang out with them, they are wonderful people.
I think the whole “hipster” thing is showing off how you like those things to anyone within range. not simply liking those things.
