GovernmentMan, you're creeping everybody out

We’re corrupting you. Run away. Run away, now. Save yourself, while you still can.

Are these girls hipsters?

Relax, as soon as he discovers 4chan we will never hear from him again.

However, when you say that he posted a link to a YouTube music performer then it is not so creepy. Because she obviously uploaded videos to YouTube so that she would have views, likes, subscribers, ect. So that she would become a YouTube celebrity. Because when you really think about it: Are celebrities strangers? Don’t we all (or most of us) project an entire life onto them?

Don’t you (to use an example) project an entire life onto Sara Bareilles? Or, if you don’t, do you think it is wrong for those that do?

…no?

Yes, they are. No, we all don’t. And no, I don’t think it’s wrong, I just think it’s creepy. I mean, I don’t think that much about my own interests, much less anyone else’s, and certainly not a total stranger’s. I might think to myself that this or that celebrity seems like a cool person or would be fun to hang out with - for instance, I’d love to go get a beer with the Mythbusters - but I can honestly say that I’ve never imagined about anyone, celebrity or otherwise, what kind of music or radio shows they listen to, what books and magazines they read, where they shop, what they do in their spare time, what their home decor looks like, or what they daydream about. And I’ve certainly never decided I do or don’t like this imaginary person based solely on the imaginary likes and dislikes I’ve assigned to them. If you do that, then sorry, I think you’re weird, too. Not wrong, but weird.

Is this girl in my trunk a hipster? Need answer fast.

Are you in GovernmentMan’s trunk?

Isn’t that the question (supposedly) voters should ask themsleves before casting their ballot, i.e. Would I want to have a beer with him?

Post (or lurk) on the SDMB, of course! :stuck_out_tongue:

Adam Savage for President.

Do you drink Pabst?

Following the posts, I tried to figure what kind of girls were those “hipsters” by googling images. But it didn’t help. I’ve had a hard time figuring out a common denominator amongst the young women depicted.

It’s too late. I told you guys I have an addictive personality and you all had to go and be all interesting and funny and shit.

He thinks he’s talking about hipsters, but he actually is slightly off the mark. It’s called a Manic Pixie Dream Girl for a reason. Natalie Portman’s character is very typical.

Only when ironing.

That was my hope too. Is it the same girl in the “smalltown” pics as in the youtube guitarist videos?

Irony-ing?

If I drink Pabst because it’s only $1 for a large can at the local pub, am I hip? Cheap?..Chip?

“Let’s say you’re a brooding male hero, living a sheltered, emotionless existence.”

Heh.

Ironic ironing is played out, now I do it because everyone else thinks it’s cool, but I know it’s not. So I do it ironically.

Which may mean I’m just ironing at this point…

Uh, no, and as to the second question, that’s completely weird and creepy. I’m not sure about the word “wrong.” But it does strike me as unhealthy, and no compliment to the real live human whose actual life experiences and personhood you prefer to ignore.

Hips?
