I am developing a new rpg strategy game called Grace. It envelopes the war between Heaven and Hell each part played by a house of angels. The Church of Satan and the Hall of Fallogicians which are the house house of Michael.
How nice.
Who does it get mailed to?
I’m more intrigued by the concept of a house house.
I don’t understand, but I might be interested.
I’d need to know a lot more about it than just a two sentence summary. Just for starters, what sort of game is it? Computer? Board? Card? Dice? What are the mechanics? How do you win? Does it allow for multiple strategies? Is the “angels versus demons” thing pure fluff, or is it reflected in the game mechanics? How long would a session take? How many players?
Ha, cocaine and posting, they go so well together.
I love Rocket Propelled Grenades. The kill factor is awesome!
Where’d ya think I got my name?
In additional, have you considered games of similar veins, such as In Nomine or on a slightly related tangent, Nobilis?
On top of the questions that Miller asked, what are the roles and challenges, and what genre is this game?
It seems to me that this concept has been done at least three times by mid-level RPG designers (Steve Jackson, White Wolf, and one other I can’t quite think of), so, bluntly, I’d worry you’re retreading tired waters.
No, not one of the games you’re thinking of had this:
The Hall of Fallogicians and the house house of Michael. Sounds awesome.
I cant wait for the movie adaptation. I hope Liam Neeson gets to play the house house of Michael.
P.S:Actually, it sounds like a straight faced version of the most amazing game ever done in France: INS/MV (I’m sure Kobal2 would agree with that).
Maybe you mean the expansion for Macho Women with Gun’;Bat winged Bimbos from hell?
Base it on Supernatural and I’m totally in. I want to play Castiel.
The game is played orally in in person, on a piece of paper, on a board, with or without dice. It is created to be theme based more so than format based. Michael is the head of the Fallogicians, the church of light while not the original Michael the Archangel due to the fact that in this game Angels are mortal and the original Satan and Michael died long ago - but a new born Michael and Lucifer. The game is being created on a text based D&D program called Master Plan (a free download) and should be used to write the basis of anyone’s game. The two houses are ancient and a secret from most of mankind but wage war for the souls of all of planet earth. What else would you like to know?
I don’t have the time it would take nor do I wish to disclose all of my best secrets at this time. ( the game isn’t finished yet) but I assure you this hasn’t been done by anyone yet. I have done my research and I wrote the game.
I created a certain lore to encompass the games strategy so that even though the angels are mortal and can be killed they still do possess unearthly powers that were bestowed on them at birth and by study,.
The premise alone isn’t very interesting, especially with this limited information. It’s like saying Bayonetta is “an action game about someone who is allied with demons vs the angels.” Angels vs Demons is just not an interesting premise by itself. It doesn’t need to have twists or anything, but at the very least it MUST be reflected in the mechanics, such as perhaps angels can rebuke demons and deal large amounts of damage directly, whereas demons rely more on tempting and deceiving mortals. So the angels will be using human belief as a secondary resource while bull rushing the demons, whereas the demons focus on defense and trying to win over human minds and souls. It’s an interesting mechanic I haven’t really seen before. It would take a lot of work to balance it anywhere near correctly, but your game needs a “hook,” something unique like that. Warcraft II with Angels vs Demons simply doesn’t cut it.
I’m in.
I just chugged my 2 beers for round 1 bonus points, what’s next?
The roles and challenges of Grace are actually very simple. Because risking a totally absurd breech of secrecy destroying both houses by mans desires there is a truce that exists between the two houses of good and evil. There are also certain guidelines that the churches must adhere to when conducting business with both mankind and each other. For example: There is to be no publicity within the houses of picking fights with the other unprovoked. There is a joint council of elders that sit over the houses with Michael and Lucifer having ruling authority to punish or to make war on the other house, It’s sort of like the UN where there are a consortium of nations all unified for a specific purpose and in this case their purpose is simply to avoid being abolished from their house or to be detected by man. To show oneself in a public place is a sin that can be punished by expulsion or in some cases according to the circumstances death. They are not into doing prison time so the stay off the radar and many are paid assets of governments.
Why I said that I have no idea… RPG, not RTS. <Insert Generic In Person RPG here> is what I meant.
