The Overlook glass platform, 4000 feet above the Colorado river will be finished in Feburary and open to the public in March.
I get a little queasy looking at the pictures. I know they say it’s safe but, four inches of glass between me and 3/4 mile of air? I don’t think so. Is it worth the $25/visit? Not to me.
My question is, what will it look like in ten years?
The shoe coverings ought to help maintain a clear view, but it still makes me a little dizzy thinking about it.
Mr. K and I may be going to the Grand Canyon right around that time. It will be interesting to see what kind of a draw this turns out to be. I may let other people be the guinea pigs as far as structural soundness goes.
I’d like to go out onto that thing. Granted, I’ll probably be crawling on my hands & knees, continuously praying that God doesn’t let me plummet to a horrible death, but I’d go.
25 bucks to walk 20 or so feet and back? I wouldn’t pay 25 bucks to walk across a mile long bridge from one edge of it to another. Five seems reasonable.
I’d go out on it. I’ve done the CN Tower and that wasn’t so bad, though that’s not exactly the same thing. Just the same I’d probably still spend the entire time on it with firmly clenched buttocks.
I’d go, but my husband (vertigo, acrophobia) would not and would probably try to keep me from going, as well. $25 seems a bit stiff, though. How much is it for an hour in a 'copter?
I don´t like the cantilever design; seems that you´ll have to look down between the thick supports. If I´d designed the thing I would have built a single central load bearing beam firmly attached to the canyon side, it would had been supported by cables running up to a tower, more or less like half a suspension bridge… The catwalk would be attached around the perimeter of the beam.
