Grand Theft Auto V

Yes, I like Trevor more and more. He’s just hilarious.

As for the Jack Nicholson vibe, yep, and it must be intentional. There’s a “?” encounter that alludes to Trevor’s resemblance to an in-game actor, who could only be a stand-in for Mr. Nicholson, based on the description. In forget the in-game name, though.

I’m so very glad this isn’t literally true! The place is big enough for my own suspension of disbelief.

Given the short in-game days, that probably is right, proportionally.

The only thing I dislike a bit is the discrete packaged nature of the missions, like in the GTA4 dlc. I’d prefer my mission failure to just play out a bit.

I’ve grown to really like Trevor. One thing, to me, is that it seems as if he realizes he’s living in a game: that none of it really matters.

He’s pretty much the first GTA protagonist who’s behavior in a cutscene matches the way the player controls him in the rest of the game.

Ifruit appears fixed now, but if you haven’t seen, Rockstar’s said not to spend money on any cars except your main, insured vehicle until the patch is out. Apparently the disappearing-from-garages thing didn’t pop up in beta testing.

So, I’m done with the main stuff for a couple of days now. If the online doesn’t deliver, I see me selling this back pretty soon.

No kidding!

The Getaway was a cool PS2 game that was set in the streets of London. Every central London street was set out exactly like in real life with all the famous buildings in situ. Quite impressive actually. However the story forced you to keep to certain routes in order to complete missions. Once you’d finished the game though you could explore London to your heart’s content which made for a good incentive to finish. Still, it didn’t touch GTA in terms of interaction with the environment - but I liked the concept of using a real city.

Or GTA: London 1969. Or GTA: London 1961. No they don’t geographically match the real city, but then Los Santos isn’t Los Angeles.

The main team behind GTA is based in Scotland, isn’t it? Some landmarks are based on Edinburgh features, despite being in US cities officially. IIRC they registered trademarks for Bogota and Tokyo, at least, in the past, but those could be red herrings (or at least speculations).

Wow really? With as often as I get to play I think it will probably be a few months before I finish.

Curious, is this the first main stream console game with nudity? I don’t remember seeing it in any other game. Even the other GTAs.

God of War and The Saboteur had topless females. LA Noire had full frontal female although I think they were all murder victims. I’m sure there are other examples.

Google “far cry 3 citra”…not from work.

Ok, all games I have not played.

I found the main storyline to be a smidge short. I also assumed that the online component was going to be opened up sooner, hence one of the reasons I blew through it as fast as I could. It turns out I did almost all of the other side missions in the process, too.

I’m kind of pacing myself in the game because I don’t want to run out of primary content before the online stuff launches.

Rockstar is promising that the online game will have lots of heists that require coordination and planning, so I’m looking forward to that. What are y’all playing on? I have the PS3 version and will definitely be up for some co-op mayhem and destruction.

Xbox.

I’m on PS3; my PSN handle is Morganthaler, and I’ve set up a Crew on Rockstar Social Club called the Perestroika VIP Club. I expect to be playing quite a bit of GTA Online.

PS3 here. Zaparthes is my handle.

ETA: friend me at will. I’ll look for you when the online version launches!
