The phone’s web browser, when you position the cursor over a link and it changes to the hand icon, it’s pointing with a non-index finger.
Was it like that in GTA4 too?

From what I remember yes. But your phone didn’t have a browser in IV, you had to go to an internet cafe.
Nicer cars in IV had voice navigation, not sure why they didn’t do that in 5.
bing bong!
I didn’t recognize this song when I encountered it in-game, but I do vaguely remember seeing the movie:
As far as I’m concerned there’s no point playing any GTA game until they team up with Google Street View and release GTA Earth.
Curious and related bit of sequential titles of news at Ars Technica on 9/23/2013:
Grand Theft Auto V rakes in over $1 billion in three days
The launch-day record for Take-Two will more than cover the costs to make the game.
**
Blackberry warns of near-$1 billion loss this quarter**
Massive inventory of unsold phones to blame.
So that is where the former Blackberry users spent their money
More virtual smart phones in GTA V will be used this year rather than new Blackberries.
GTA World? Awesome idea! So Rockstar guys, here’s the next challenge for you!
Anyone know when is the release of the PC version? Or is it not going to happen?
No solid info yet. It WILL happen, we just don’t know when yet.
Some supposed leaked shots and info of the PC version (unconfirmed) point to Nov 22nd and DX11/64 bit support. Again, unverified.
Thanks for this!
Although not confirmed yet, I’ll just wait for the release to buy that version instead of playing it on a console.
From GTA 3 to Vice City, 1 year passed. From Vice City to San Andreas, 2 years passed. From SA to 4, 4 years passed. From 4 to 5, 5 years passed. A GTA World might not make it in this decade or the next. It will be interesting to see what kind of world free roaming games can have with the 8GB of the next gen of consoles, though.
I hope they do the UK. Plenty to make fun of there.
The size of open worlds won’t necessarily change, unless more money is invested in development. It’s not like GTA’s or Skyrim’s world could all fit on the console’s 512 MB of RAM.
Right now, devs trick us with smoke and mirrors, as these worlds are really all just small cells around the character that are dynamically loaded in and out of memory as you move around the world. For the most part, anything not in your immediate vicinity simply doesn’t exist.
With larger memory buffers, those small cells, can become much larger. Areas of the world can actually exist without you being right next to them, allowing for a more dynamic/versatile world, a world that feels more alive and lived in, more realistic.
The overall size of the world then would simply be a matter of how much money and people do you want to throw at level design/content creators so as to make the extra space interesting to explore.
I was thinking that an EU version would be really cool. Have the cities be London, Amsterdam, Paris and Pargue. The only reason I’d complete any missions would be to open the next city so that I could explore.
It’s obvious that the entire “state” of San Andreas in GTA V is actually a lot smaller than LA County by itself. But how much smaller? The map for San Andreas is 13.9 square miles.
LA County is 4,752 square miles.
LA, the actual city itself, is 503 square miles.
Downtown LA is 5.84 square miles, so San Andreas is at least larger than that.
I knew it was obviously way smaller, seeing as it doesn’t take you a couple hours to drive across the city, never mind to get anywhere significant outside of the city, but comparing the actual numbers is pretty funny.
I’ve no problem with not taking 12 hours to drive to the northern part of the state in game.
ETA: The state of California is 163,696 square milesin size.
I’m not terribly optimistic. For both GTA4 and SA, the wait was approximately 7 months.
I’ve been trying to find geographical locations comparable in size to San Andreas, as linked above, which is supposedly 13.9 square miles in size.
It’s smaller than the island of Manhattan (22.96 sq mi.)
It’s smaller than Liechtenstein (61.78) or San Marino (24).
It’s smaller than most notable small cities, for that matter. Ann Arbor, MI is 28.7 sq mi.
Closest I could find: it’s about the same size as Corvallis, OR (14.13 sq mi.)
ETA: game scale is a funny thing!
Anyone got to the interogation scene with Trevor?
Jesus Christ. I thought the airport level in Modern War 2 was bad!
It should be bad. The fact that GTA5 was more overt than CoD isn’t surprising.
Seriously. “No Russian” didn’t bother me at all. This one, though…
They actually mention this at one point: somebody says that the distance between Los Santos and Sandy Shores, where Trevor lives, is several hours worth of driving.
