Grandchildlandia!

Welcome to the Universe that is centered upon our grandchildren!

It’s been said that grandchildren are Life’s reward for surviving your children. Or maybe it’s letting your children survive…hmmm…

Talk about the smartest, the most clever, the most beautiful creatures ever to draw breath! And why are those kids so smart and so beautiful? They take after their grandparents, obviously!

I have three: COTU#1, COTU#2, COTU#3. (COTU = Center of the Universe)

I read that as granchilada and was excited to read about such a magnificent enchilada. Now I’m sad. And hungry.

Hmmm…sounds like an interesting feature for Anne Geddes photography!
~VOW

Oh, I got pix of my grand-wreks in peapods ala’ Anne Geddes. Instead of being a happy cutesy little photograph, both girls are screaming, red-faced little demon babies. It’s hilarious. Santa knee pix are just as bad. I told DIL to quit trying, these girls are not model material. Love those girls, their drum beats a bit differently. The oldest starts K this year. Can’t wait to hear what’s gonna happen. It’s sure to be entertaining.

Beck - they sound like sensible girls.

When DIL went back to work there was a brief interchange whereas to save cash Nana may be the babysitter (nope, never have I been happier to be fired before I got hired in my whole life). The reason explained to me by Son-of-a-wrek was they were afraid my craziness may rub off on these innocent babes. He actually said those words to me. Whoops!! Karma is a bitch! They are the 2 of the strangest little girls. Think Wednesday Addams, in diapers… Love it!

I have three Grand-Chiladas myself. Sadly, Guestling the Eldest and baby mama 1 have gone separate ways so, no real relationship with Grand-Chilada1.
Guestling the Eldest is now married and living waaaay over on the other side of the state, and so there hasn’t been an opportunity to meet his second Chilada. I will be taking opportunity by the short hairs soon though, in order to remedy this lack in my life.
Guestling the 2ndEldest has a baby girl, she’s just a bit over a year old. I turn into a happy, selfish puddle of drooling idiot around her. (Yes I actually snarled at Mrs. Guestling the 2ndEldest once when she wanted her daughter back…I am perfectly capable of changing a diaper dammit)

Watching a grandchild’s face light up when he or she sees the grandparent!

That’s how they look when they see Grandpa. When they see ME, they hurry to look behind me, because they want him.

I adore them all, anyway. And I demand my share of hugs and kisses. I also sneak in butt grabs, because baby butts are the sweetest thing on Earth.
~VOW

No,VOW, kisses on baby’s belly are the sweetest.YMMV.

Necks are wonderful, too. And fingers. Chubby knees.

sigh

I just like to chew on babies!
~VOW

And those little fat feets. We’re ridiculous, or hungry!

I was born hungry.

But I EAT babies! They are so sweet and delicious! Particularly when they are six months or so, because they laugh themselves silly all the while you are chewing on them!

But then they get older…and when you try to chew, they pull away with an indignant, “Grand-MA!”

COTU#2 is in a non-kissing phase. When I ask for a kiss, she presents her cheek and ALLOWS me to kiss her.

She thrives on drama!

I was surprised at Christmas when daughters 6yo boy announced he was too big to kiss Nana. I tackled him and kissed him up til he was giggling. His brother is a clinger to Mom. He’s like velcroed to her. I finally got him in my lap and rocked him to sleep. I don’t see them as much they live in New Orleans.

Ah man, yes! Rocking a child to sleep…nothing quite like it.
I can’t wait till mine are a bit older so I can take them fishing, or camping or whatever…do all that grandparent stuff with them like getting them addicted to homemade oatmeal raisin cookies and fried bread dough. Giving them little snippets of life from “when I was your age”. Not lectures or anything long winded, just interesting comments in passing. (Its an artform I hope I inherited from my Grandpa)

My first and only grandbaby will have her first birthday in a few days. They’ve been living with us for the last 11 months and it’s been an amazing experience.

When my daughter was a baby, I was working up to 3 jobs because my husband was in school and we needed to eat and stuff, so I missed a lot of the early months. I’m getting to experience them with RoxyFae, the world’s most perfectest baby evah!! (Sorry, your grands may be wonderful, but they can’t compare to mine! )

Lately, she’s been toddling over to me with books, plopping them on my chair, and climbing to sit in my lap so I can read to her. (Wanna hear me recite “Hop on Pop” in its entirety??) We have rousing rounds of Where’s Roxy?? (aka peek-a-boo) and there’s the ever-popular patty-cake, which we’ve been doing since she was about 2 months old.

I do try to refrain from talking about her all the freekin’ time, but it’s a challenge, since she’s so fascinating. Can’t wait till she starts talking - I expect interesting things then.

^^^I say talk and brag all you want. You’ve earned that right. What I wouldn’t do to have one of mine living here with us? Sadly my kids won’t sell me one. Believe me I have begging for years.

FCM, Grandchildlandia was specifically created for all the button-bustin’, proud grandparents to come forth and brag!

My favorite book is “Green Eggs and Ham.”

Goodnight Moon.

I’m gonna crawl over to this thread where I know I am wanted and loved.

Um…I am wanted and loved here, right?
~VOW

Yes, VOW, you are loved. Don’t look over at your cats. It might make you doubt. Instead, look at a pic of your COTUs. Yep that’s the ticket
