Grandfather vs Grandson (Yeh I'm bored right now)

Who would win in a fight between an average 80 year old man and an 8 year old boy?

I’m going to have to go with the boy unless the 80 year old is “The Juiceman” from TV but of course “The Juiceman” is not your average 80 year old.

I think you just strengthened your standing as most unique thread poster.

This is a hard one to call. I’d say the boy wins, just. But health and fitness in 80 year old men can vary greatly.

Oh, I’d just like to point out that my reply in no way condones the fight in question

Hmm . . . both my grandfathers are in their mid-seventies. My mom’s dad owns a farm and rountinely wrestles sheep and goats (or whatever the hell they do on a farm), so I think it’s safe to say he’d kick an eight-year-old’s butt. My dad’s dad is dead (R.I.P.), so I think he’d have a bit of a disadvantage.

Suffice it to say, I think it depends tremendously on the health of the grandfather. However, I think if the boy were smart he’d be able to size up his opponent and run away if he’s outmatched. There aren’t a lot of eighty-year-olds (even really healthy eighty-year-olds) who can chase down an eight year old. The muscles just don’t move as fast at that age.

So, I’d say with good strategy the eight-year-old should be able to manage at least a draw (unless running away counts as a forfeit).

Unless the octagenarian is in especially poor health, I don’t see the eight year old having much chance unless it was just hit and run in which case, the boy would be able to wear the man down and eventually claim victory after the other guy exhausts himself.

Is the kid allowed to throw projectiles? Because I think that might be his best bet. Run around and throw rocks at the guy.

Sure but what would stop the man from doing the same thing?

My father was just shy of 80 when he died. His hearing was bad and his night vision wasn’t what it used to be but he still had great upper body strength.

If it were boxing or wrestling, he could have taken down an 8-year old within 30 seconds. Throwing rocks, my father would have had greater range and better aim. If it involved running, an 8 year-old would have worn him out in 2 minutes.

The reason why I say the 8 year old would win is because the 80 year old would have a higher pain tolerance. The 80 year old could probably make the 8 year old cry first but the 8 year old would get angry. He would kick, bite scratch, punch and do whatever he could to hurt the man, the old man would get worn out and most likely try to get away from the boy. If the boy was mean enough he would throw himself on the old man knocking him over.
If you put weapons in the mix then the 8 year old would completely dominate the fight…just think your 80 years old and this fast little kid is swinging a bat at you.
Anyway in most cases I think the 8 year old would be the clear winner in the end.

I’m betting on the Grandad. Of course, there’s only one way to find out…

But when will it be out on Xbox?

It depends. Either one of them named Bruce Wayne?

Same thing as parents vs. teachers.

Age wins because the older one understands the concepts of winning and losing.

The child will give up or “not want to play anymore” when he’s too hurt or tired and expect his opponent to do the same. The child won’t see that there is anything beyond this.

A geezer can shake off a thumb in the eye. That would be more pain than an 8-yearold is prepared to accept, indeed, it’d likely be more pain than he’s ever experienced in his life, and it’d take the fight right out of him.

Nothing, but I figured the child’s greater mobility would let him avoid them more easily. But kunilou has a good point about the man having a greater range.

I would actually say the 80 year old man. The old guy has 72 years of experience over the kid, and more likely than not has been in at least a few scraps up until then. Thus, he would know about pressure points, cheap shots, etc. He’d also be a lot bigger than a little kid, which would give him an advantage in reach.

The child would have all the disadvantages of an 8 year old mind- susceptibility to intimidation, impulsive, and inexperienced. I would figure the most damage the kid could do would be by biting (this is just from personal experience dealing with ornery kids- when they wanted to hurt me they didn’t punch or kick, but rather they bit and pinched, cleverly maximizing what strength they have in their little bodies)
