Grapefruit knives and spoons.

Where can I get 'em?

You know what I mean. Those little knives with the curved and serrated blades, and those little, narrow spoons with the serrated tips.

You know, the things you used to eat grapefuit with when you were a kid.

My girlfriend bought me a “Grapefruit Knife” from the Pampered Chef, and I honestly don’t know how to use the thing. Yeah, it’s got the curved, serrated blade (and how!), but that thing is about three times as big as what I’m used to. Then there’s the other end. Did I mention that this thing is double-ended? Heck, I’m mentioning it now.

The back end of this monstrosity is a two-tined fork with really wide, flat tines. Both tines have little spikes on the end, and one is serrated on the outside, but it really wouldn’t cut a dog turd if you tried for a week.

This is not a grapefruit knife. This is not a grapefruit spoon. This is some sort of weird-assed grapefruit tool that I don’t want.

Help me here, people. Find me my spoons and knives.

We bought ours at the grocery store.

Try here.

Or, if you’re more upscale, try here.

Or you could just peel it like a big danged orange and then just eat the thing. There’s less juice squirting that way.

First, grapefruit, ICK! Though grapefruit juice does make a good mixer. Actually I’ve seen grapefruit spoons in department stores that have a kitchenwares department. Round these parts I’ve seen em in stores like Dillard’s and Belk’s. Check out the big anchor department store in your local favorite mall Ex. They probably have grapefruit spoons. I know, I know, the mall… but just think how proud Angel Pants will be that you ventured to the mall and made a purchase all by yourself.

Okay, the gold-plated ones are nice, but that strikes me as a bit of overkill.

I must live in some weird part of the country where grapefruit tools are prohibited, because I’ve never seen them in stores. I guess I’ll just have to look harder.

I see you’ve played knifey-spooney before!

The local Bed, Bath & Boys store has wonderful grapefruit knives, for about $5 each. One end is two parallel blades, highly serrated, set about 1 mm apart - they’re for cutting between the sections. The other end is a single, more gently serrated edged, curved, for slicing 'round the outside.

They are wonderfu.
