Wow. This is huge. The FDA will require horribly graphic warning labels on cigarette packs that show everything from tracheotomy smokers to diseased lungs to corpses with toe tags.
I haven’t smoked in nearly 2 decades (although I still use a nicotine substitute), but now I’ll have to go out and collect the whole set. I wonder if the graphic will be the same size on all cig packs - or will it be bigger on 100mm varieties than on the regular size. (I’m only half kidding btw)
Speaking of Canadian cig packages, there was a report on CBC recently that the Canadian Federal Government has decided not to require larger warnings. It seems that the large graphic warnings were more effective when they first came out, but not so much now.
You become desensitized to it pretty quickly. They came out when I still smoked years and years ago, and I didn’t notice them any more after a few months.
Yeah, I certainly would say it wasn’t the packaging. When they first came out, I know guys who treated them like trading cards. They were kind of popular like Garbage Pail Kids.
Nowadays, I don’t know anyone who looks at a package of smokes any longer than it takes to identify the brand.
Jeez. At what point do we say, “enough”? Just one more step on the long march towards serfdom. Hey, government, you have a fewbadhabits of your own. Howzabout working on some of those before you tell free citizens what to do? KTHKSBYE.
