graphical artifacts in Firefox?

I just installed Mozilla Firefox, and the menu is nothing short of completely screwed up. Previously, I had the Mozedit and Calculator extensions on Firebird .7, and they’re here, alright, but the icons in the bar are stretched out and in black in white. There are no divider thingies, and the little quicklinks at the top under the addres bar are squished. There is no space between File, Edit, View, etc. There are no icons for Back, Forward, Reload, Stop, or Home, and there are what appears to be scrambled pictures under the file menu line. When I try to click on the menus, the drop down menu is black. There is no scroll bar on the pages, and I’m trying to figure out what the heck is going on. Has anyone else had this problem, or have any ideas on how to fix it?

Just install Fire<animal> and revert to older version. Wait till FireBaboon comes out.

Seriously, reinstall.

Are you using a different theme than standard? They changed the themes in the new version.

Or create a new profile and see if that fixes it. Easier than a full re-install.

Same thing happened to me. I agree that the problem may be that some or all of the old themes don’t work with this latest version. The default Firefox theme seems to work fine, although I had to do a complete re-start to get scroll bars back.

Nope, I’m using the Firefox default. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled, no dice.

Fixed the problem. For all those who may have it themselves, I closed .8, disabled all extensions in .7, and then started .8. Works like a dream.

You’re using the same profile as your old build. If you’re running Win2k or XP, Go to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\ and rename the Phoenix folder to something like PhoenixOld. The next time you start the browser, it will create a new profile. Import your bookmarks from the old profile, and set up your options as you like them.
