I use XP Pro SP3 and Firefox 3 for my default browser. Just now, I found I suddenly cannot use any of the little SDMB posting gadgets with Firefox anymore.
For example, the “Fonts” and “Sizes” pulldown menus are empty and blank. Clicking on the Smilies does nothing (not that I use them, but still). The bold, italic, and underline controls do nothing. None of the controls do anything at all. All I can do is type in the message box and press submit or preview.
I’m posting this using IE, where everything works normally.
The only changes I’m aware of is that I just allowed Windows Update to apply two new updates:
Security Update for Windows XP (KB958687)
Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool - January 2009 (KB890830)
Anyone else seeing this problem?
My problem with Firefox is worse than I thought. Now, when I pull down any bookmark from the bookmark menu, Firefox ignores it completely!
I rebooted a few times, but nothing worked. This seems pretty weird.
Using Firefox (whatever the latest version is) and Windows XP Home (I think).
It looks fine, I think.
Fonts, sizes and smilies work anyway.
ETA: and my bookmarks work just fine. You must be having another issue.
I’ve got Firefox 3 and XP SP3 and the pulldown menus here work just fine. Also no problems with the bookmarks in Firefox either.
FF 3.0.5, XP SP3 Media Center. No problem.
No idea, really. Have you tried clearing your cache? FF safe mode? A FF profile with no add-ons?
Other than that, I got nothin’.
I’m still having the exact same problem, so the fault is obviously on my end and has nothing to do with the SDMB.
Thanks for your replies.
Testing my Firefox, too (but mostly because I just re-upped and want to post something, anything!).
Do you have a script blocker add-on installed or something?
I started a thread about this same problem a week ago. I got no replies, and when I looked at my post it really wasn’t very well written so that wasn’t very surprising.
Basically none of the shortcut icons work for me either. Bold, Italics, Smilies etc etc.
I also use FF3 but with Ubuntu so I figured it was something to do with that.
At least I’m not the only one. (imagine there’s a little smiling face here)
