Great Catalogs

Greenbean, I just wanted to let you know that my hat arrived and I love it! I’m a MAD and we’ve recently gotten through a lot of soggy weather that usually ends up with me getting soaked. Not this time! I chose a hat with a 3 ½ brim which kept my glasses dry and the rest of me as well. I’ve got a large head and nothing in the stores around here would fit. Plus, I got compliments on at least two different people on how great my hat looked. I thought I’d look dorky, but if the hat worked, I’d get over it. The hat cost about $62.00, but at least I didn’t waste my time with cheap imitators. Thanks again for your suggestion!

two favorite book catalogues

AMOK/KOMA (I’m not sure they issue one any more)

and

LOOMPANICS

Gotta give credit to Sub-Genius Rev Ivan Stang’s HIGH WEIRDNESS BY MAIL for turning me on to these.

My favorite plant catalog is Seeds of Change: http://www.seedsofchange.com/

And Taschen is always interesting: http://www.taschen.com/

Favorite book catalogue is A Common Reader
(I think it’s www.commonreader.com).

For kids’ furniture, etc., I love Pottery Barn Kids, but I’ve never been able to afford
a single thing from their catalogue.

Bas Bleu is another interesting book catalogue, but it’s much shorter than Common Reader.

The Dover Catalogue has inexpensive books and great stickers, paper dolls, and coloring books.

Our toy catalogue of choice is C. Foster Toys. We’ve ordered so many interesting games from them.

I also love looking through Restorations Hardware for interesting hardware, lighting, etc. for the house.

Coming Home, the Lands’ End home catalogue, has some good stuff on sale, although the regular price of their home stuff is too steep for us. The quality of their sheets, etc. is excellent.

Mrs. Furthur

Ooh, another High Weirdness fan! After I got the book, YEARS ago, just before the internet metatasized, I wrote to Stang, sending him info on a group for his “hate groups” chapter. It was the Phelps clan, and he hadn’t heard of them yet. I even got a really funny letter back from him!

One I love is www.practica.com . Cool kitchen and home stuff. I’ve spent a small fortune with them.

Ah, yesssss…I loves me my catalogs. Here’s another one. Need to square up the walls of a miniature house? Make plastic look like rust? find anchor chains for your scale model of the Bounty?
