I saw part of it but it was total tripe(Titanic) ,I think the thing that sold it was the use of the then new technique of C.G.s
I totally agree with your views about already exciting events and sticking some silly little story line on top of it .(Not always a love story sometimes its a conflict between the main characters or whatever.)
