Oh damn, those sound so good. I’ve never tried anything like that, but I’ve heard olive oil gelato is out of this world.

There IS such a thing? I’m floored - and also very curious to find a supplier. I must try this. Or make it. Hmm.

I like gelato and sorbet even more than ice cream. I find both have stronger flavors and a nicer “mouth feel,” and they’re even healthier than ice cream as a bonus. Il Laboratorio de Gelato in New York City makes olive oil gelato, as well as several other dreamlike flavors: gelato flavors — il laboratorio del gelato
They even deliver, but unfortunately not all the flavors are available by mail.

Fave #2: Vanilla and honey. I just drizzle honey on the top, and maybe toss a little cinnamon on, but this would be pretty easy to mix up. I think someone actually makes a honey-vanilla ice cream now.

You’re thinking of one of the new gourmet Haagen-Dazs flavors, vanilla bean ice cream with a swirl of Hawaiian lehua honey. I tried it and loved it. The honey was extremely rich and thick and creamy.
my favorite is sweet cream ice cream (from Peaches and Cream, the local independent ice-cream-made-in-little-batches-on-site place) with dry roasted peanuts and Reese’s Pieces. Sometimes I just do the peanuts. SO GOOD.

I’m waiting until our mint plant makes a reappearance in a month or two to try out a mojito-inspired sorbet with lime, rum and mint

I couldn’t stop thinking about this and made some last night, but in ice cream form. The final verdict? Awesome.
The best ice cream combination I’ve ever had is orange/pineapple, at Coppelia in Havana. I have not been able to find the same ice cream outside of Cuba, I find orange sorbet and vanilla, or pineapple/orange sorbet, but so far no joy.
