In the movie Buffy the Vampire Slayer Donald Sutherland tells Kristy Swanson that when Vampires are near she will feel cramps. To which she replies “Great. My secret weapon is PMS.”
I’ve never seen a single episode of the T.V. show. Did she get cramps in the T.V. version?
I’ve seen almost all of the episodes and I don’t think she ever got cramps. It was more like she had an unexplained sense that detected demons. It was mentioned in one of the first episodes where she went to the Bronze (nightclub) and was told by her watcher that she should be able to spot vampires in the crowd by using her slayer powers.
And that was largely ignored in future episodes. Buffy was more perceptove in picking out hidden demons than others, but that was attributed more to exdperience than slayer-senses. In teh show, she occasionally got precognitive dreams, but other than that and occasional special events like the time she contracted telepathy from a demon, she’s always had to rely on natural wits and senses.
Yeah, she really wasn’t able to “see” vamps in the series. Hell, how long did she get snuggly with Angel before finding out he was a vamp? She even held him and kissed him! The fact that his body is room temperatuer didn’t clue you in?!
I think this would be an appopriate time to quote Mystery Men :
“I’m the PMS avenger. I only work four days out of the month. You have a problem with that?!”
Maybe he just had really low blood pressure… 
IMO, it would have been cool if they had kept in that element - implicitly tying female sexuality in with the legacy of the slayer. There is lots of mythology to be explored there. I’ve read some good fanfics that mine that theme.
