Great sub-B movies of the 1980s

Of course, there are the BASKET CASE, TOXIC AVENGER, and CLASS OF NUKE’EM HIGH series (I just found out at the Troma site that they made a 3rd CLASS) but
there are tons more that were on VHS & USA Network, and have not yet made it to DVD, at least on a mass-market scale, or have survived to be on rotation on any main cable movie channels.

So what do you really want to see again that you can’t easily get your hands on?

BRAIN DAMAGE - a worm-like creature gets its host addicted to its hallucinogenic injections so that he’ll help it feed on other humans

BLOOD DINER- a parody of H.G. Lewis’s Blood Feast- two grill-cooks are assembling a female body out of murder victims to be a vessel for their demon-goddess

HELL COMES TO FROGTOWN - Rowdy Roddy Piper fight… I’m not sure… I vaguely recall Frog-people.

OBLIVION I & II - Full Moon Productions Sci-Fi Western

DARK ANGEL: The Ascent- another Full Moon- in which demons live ordinary lives, raise families, and are employed by God to torture evil people in Hell. A young demonness is allowed by Mother Mary (?) to come to Earth where she kills evil-doers & falls in love with a young doctor.

CANNIBAL WOMEN IN THE AVOCADO JUNGLE OF DEATH - Bill Maher and Shannon Tweed… who keeps her clothes on. Still entertaining.

One that is actually available, just re-issued on DVD- NIGHT OF THE COMET. Also still shows up on TV.

Available on DVD from Troma- CHOPPER CHICKS IN ZOMBIETOWN, in which we finally learn the correct pronunciation of “coitus” (which I had thought was “koy’-tuss”, not “ko-eye’-tuss”).

Every since I first saw the trailer for “The Brain”, I’ve really, really wanted to see it. Sadly, it doesn’t appear to be out on dvd yet.

Edit: And Phantasm 2 is a lot harder to find on DVD than it really should be.

Btw, I just found some that I listed either are or will be soon available on DVD.
Others I thought of-

BLOOD AND DONUTS (artsy vampire film starring Gordon Currie - The AntiChrist in the Left Behind movies, DVD out of print)

SHRUNKEN HEADS (Full Moon- 3 teens killed by gang are re-animated as
vengeance-seeking flying heads by kindly voodoo priest, not on DVD)

A POLISH VAMPIRE IN BURBANK (actually available on DVD)

I saw the latter on USA Network’s Sat afternoon movie show hosted by Captain/Commander (?) USA. Also, I remember seeing on it a low-budget
but serious vampire movie which has a scene with two men in a hospital
morgue. One’s girlfriend has been killed by a vampire, and the boyfriend,
using the novel DRACULA as a rule-book, realizes he has to be the one to
stake her, as Holmwood had to be the one to stake Lucy Westenra.
Any ideas on what this is?

One I saw last month on FLIX that is also on DVD, and was the much-lesser sequel to a quality horror film-

HOWLING II: Your Sister is a Werewolf

Sybil Danning’s greatest performance ever.

You can just FF to the final credits to see it.

The Last Dragon is best known as the break-dancing Croutching Tiger of the 80’s.

I’ll add

The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik Yak 1984.

This was a hilariously funny Killer-B sub-B or Z movie. Lots of nudity, a very silly plot and possibly lamer than the fake movie “Amazon Woman on Mars”.

I will offer up the entire Linda Blair 80s catalog:

Chained Heat was the stand out of these movies with Savage Streets a clse second.

Amazing, I’d only heard of this movie through my parents, who saw it back then and still continue to use it as the bar against which really, really crappy movies are measured.
