I had planned to renew our AAA membership later today. This morning, I got an email from “AAA Member Deals”. Today’s featured deal reads:
**Half Off a 1-Year Family Membership ($178 Value)
Creation Museum - AAA Approved **
It goes on to say:
*On the seventh day, God rested. In the six before that, though, He worked very hard creating the beauty and wonder of plants, animals and humans on Earth and the universe. Learn about His creation from exhibits, educational and entertaining for the whole family, with Today’s Deal from the Creation Museum. Pay just $89 for a one-year family pass (a $178 value).
*
I don’t think that necessarily implies AAA condones the message behind the Creation Museum. I’d take it to mean that the physical facility is up to par with AAA standards–clean, accessible, relatively safe, that sort of thing.
Oh, I’m sure it doesn’t mean they endorse the beliefs. I’d just rather they had the good sense to not feature a big discount to the Creation Museum, thereby ensuring more business for a place run by whackos that should just go away.
Doesn’t seem like there’s a way for AAA to win. If they don’t promote it like others, then they can be accused of being bigots, if they do promote it then they are complicit in idiocy.
Would you like to know the whole story? Of course you would!
The truth is, Noah built an entire duplicate of the Ark just for dinosaurs. They were so big and scary none of the other animals wanted to be on a boat with them.
At first the whole plan worked perfectly. The regular animals got onto the Ark, two-by-two, and settled in. The dinosaurs got onto the parallel Ark two-by-two, and after a bit of roaring and stomping around, settled in as well. The floodwaters rose; the sinners were dismayed; and the Arks floated off two-by-two themselves, all according to God’s plan.
So what went wrong? Why are there no living dinosaurs today?
The answer is simple – and, surprisingly, it’s a problem with which AAA itself is all too familiar.
Like most people, Noah simply wasn’t any good at parallel Arking.
I am going to wait and wait until I find myself in a serious discussion with a creationist. I will act as though I agree with them and tell that story.
