Agreed. I know that the top three states for producing NFL players are Florida, Texas, and California (not sure of the ranking). (ETA: I see someone else looked it up!)
I’m not sure if this is still the case, but I know that, in the past, a lot of the black Packers didn’t live full-time in the Green Bay area – some lived in Milwaukee, others lived back in their home states (though they all would have been renting apartments or houses in GB during the season). But, with the growth of the off-season conditioning and workout programs which all NFL teams now institute, I don’t know if it’s as easy for players to do that now.
