Grey's Anatomy 1/11

I looked and didn’t see a thread…could someone comment on the high points? I was on the phone and only saw it with mute on.

Is Dr. Montgomery going to sleep with every man in the place? What’s up with her and Alex?

Why was Izzie crying so hard at the bank; was it just because all the Denny stuff got raked up again? Or did he not accept the mangled check? Isn’t there a limit of $100K on what is protected at any one bank?

Hmmmm, let’s see. . .

Christina and Dr. Burke are still not communicating. They still care about each other but neither wants to make the first move.

As you saw, Dr. Montgomery and Alex had another “moment” when Alex told her the reason he sabotaged Dr. McSteamy was because he had been rude to her.

A teenage girl with severe scoliosis(bent over at a 90 degree angle) came in for a procedure to make her more comfortable, and Dr. McDreamy, at Callie’s urging, held a consult with her and determined that he might be able to straighten her spine. Dr. Baily told Izzy she could scrub in on the surgery only if she deposits the check, which you saw her do. (You are correct, her meltdwon was just a rehash of her grief over Denny). The girl’s mother found out that the inusrance won’t cover the $200,000 surgery, so I’m pretty sure Izzy is going to pay for the operation.

When they opened up George’s father, they discovered he has a tumor that they didn’t know about. The doctors told him that his chances of survival if they removed it were slim, but he insisted anyway. He and George had some nice bonding moments, so I’m specualting that he’s not gonna make it (actually the scenes from next week show the mom asking if it was time to let him go).

Meredith’s Dad’s granddaughter had to have emergency surgery (that’s who Alex was tending to when he and Dr. Shephard had their moment)and when Dad tried to talk to Meredith she blew him off.

That’s all I can think of for now. I’m sure some other fans have more to add.

Why is this episode “To be continued”? Arent’ they all? Is it just that none of the patients’ stories concluded either?

Did McSteamy get Dr. Montgomery pregnant? Looked that way in the “next week on…”

Grey snores-- this’ll be the reason for McDreamy to ditch her since he can’t sleep nor does he have permission to leave the bed when she starts. George and Callie kissed over George’s dad’s pee. Grey’s dad is a weak wuss who cannot make a decision for himself, so we should feel sorry for him for ditching his kid because his ex-wife told him to. Christina and Dr. Burke were made for each other since they are both stubborn hard-heads. Izzy doesn’t deserve 8 million dollars, so she cried.

Really, that’s what happened.

You forgot to add that scoliosis girl wants to be straightened up so she can get laid. Best line in the whole show.

The episode title was “Six Days” and we only saw 3. It would have made more sense if each day had been labled on the screen. Like Day 1, Day 2, Day 3. But you’re right, even the bomb episode from last year didn’t say “to be continued”.

This episode was originally written as a one parter. It was then changed to 2 episodes.

I loved George and Callie doing the “pee dance”. Still cannot stand Izzie. now she’ll get personally involved with another patient by donating money for surgery. That girl has learned nothing. Addison and Alex were hot! Christina and Burke are pathetic just like Addison said.

That’s hot!

Izzy gets on my nerves, too. She is alternately self-righteous and neurotic. It drives me nuts. Glad she finally deposited that damn check. It was so unrealistic that she wouldn’t have deposited it by now. BTW, $8.7m will be gone quickly if she spends $200k + on each patient. Better to give them $50k to hire an attorney to fight the insurance company if she wants to help people.

I thought the scene with Addy and Alex was great.

Meredith wanting McDreamy to stay in bed all night, despite her snoring, is ridiculous. He’s a freaking surgeon and he needs some sleep. Earplugs are out since he wouldn’t be able to hear his pager/alarm.

Only a few seconds of McSteamy. Rats! Did I miss the break-up between Addy and him? Last I remember they were in bed together.

They’re surgeons. They’ve fixed every possible (please og) permutation of almost completely hopeless and impossible cases that can turn up in a small non-teaching hospital (plus all those that could turn up in all the centres of excellence in the land). Snoring can be cured by surgery - or by a simple strip bought at a drugstore. So if they do break up over this, the writers will need to be fired and the show cancelled.

In the final montage, Meredith had the drugstore strip on her nose…and was still keeping McDreamy awake with her snoring.

My parents have always taken the “elbow the other person till they turn over and stop snoring” approach.

And what about the FDIC limit? Sorry to be obsessed, but Izzie needs to split the check among 87 banks :stuck_out_tongue:

If she’s got the brains to make it out of high school, much less medical school, she’ll start a foundation. She could call it Steal A Heart Foundation.

Oooh, I like that name. There should be some kind of “Monkey’s Paw” requirement to get a grant. Someone has to be severely injured as a consequence of each grant she makes.

I’m not a banker, nor a bank robber, but I’m pretty sure there are ways to put 8.7 million into one account that would be insured. But she should definitely start some kind of grant foundation for stuff like that girl’s spine-ectomy. She did say in an earlier episode that she felt she had to do something good with the money.

I missed most of Mark’s conversations with Addison because other people in my house feel it’s okay for themto talk through my shows even though I have to keep quiet during some boring gymnastics event. (Yes, I’m having some home issues this week - why do you ask.)

Heh. I think she needs to come up with an acronym definition for a foundation names LVAD, for all we had to hear about those darn wires.

Oh please. Scoliosis girl could easily get laid. She just wants to see the guy’s face at the time.

BTW, did anyone else notice that Scoliosis girl is Ann Veal from “Arrested Development”?

Those strips on the nose don’t do a lot in most cases. And many cases of snoring can’t be solved unless the surgery is quite complicated. Since Meredith obviously doesn’t have sleep apnea (or is the thinnest person ever to have it), there is very little reason to go around tinkering with her throat and such.

My parents were happilly married for 37 years snoring away, often in contrapuntal tones.

I snore a lot. I don’t have apnea. I don’t want surgery for it. My girlfriend doesn’t like it when we’re together, but she adapts. Or goes and sleeps someplace else if I’m keeping her up.

Hee, yep, Mae Whitman also showed up as a bad girl on Desperate Housewives.
