They came back and showed Christina whispering to Burke, “I love you too.” And Derek going to Meredith’s house and they had a discussion over their last kiss.
I think she just read it in his eyes, I don’t think she was privy. But I’m not sure.
I don’t watch this show regularly…I probably catch 1 in 4 episodes at most. (Prior to last week’s episode, I think the last one I saw was the “pregnant” guy one.) Now that Missing is over for the season, I’ll probably watch this show more often. I know who George and Izzy are, but what on earth was Meredith talking about? They’re not going to be roommates now or something?
Add me to the people who were confused that the bomb squad just wandered down the hall without putting the bomb in a container designed for, you know, bombs.
Plus, she’s been there. The chief was in love with Meh’s mother. I’m sure she knows that “look”.
elfkin - They’ve been roommates since the first episode. Meredith’s living in her mother’s big old house, her mother being in the Forgetful Folks Nursing Home. She interviewed for roommates the first ep to share expenses and chores. In the end George and Izzy moved in with her. They got a dog (stupid when you consider how many hours a week an intern & resident spends at work) which they later gave to McDreamy.
bordelond - The relationship between Meredith and Sheperd was pretty much known throughout the hospital. When Sheperd’s wife came back after having cheated on him, he chose to try to save his marriage. I have a feeling the Chief’s wife knows what goes on in the hospital.

Oh, that. Okay. I guess I just wasn’t surprised by those scenes.
I was watching Burke to see if his mouth or eyes would twitch so we’d know he was awake when Christina said that. And as far as Derek, well, I keep expecting more from them than just talk, really.
As far as Webber’s wife realizing Derek wasn’t looking for his wife, considering the known history of their separation I think she could easily see in his reaction that he was looking for somebody else, though I’m not sure if she knows about his thing with Meredith.
Meredith was saying that if she died, she wanted George and Izzy to still be able to live in her house.
I wouldn’t either - but Cristina would. She is (as said in the episode) a “doer.” That’s where the action was, and that’s where Meredith was - that’s exactly where she’d want to be at that moment.
And in a case like that being a “doer” isn’t exactly a survival instinct.
“Hmm, that volcano is erupting. I’ve gotta get over there right away.”
“Wow, look at that nuclear bomb. Let’s go watch it.”
So, who’s - based on their actions on the respective shows - the stupider character, Meredith Grey or Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher) on Desperate Housewives. Normally I’d give the stupidity level to Susan, but after this I dunno.
Consider the fact that she’s just had her hand on the explosive for how many hours? This man has willingly taken the explosive from her and is carrying it down the hall to his team. This man is willingly doing what she would have given anything to not be doing. It’s like a train hurtling to a crash and wreck, you know you can’t do anything to stop it, and you’re not directly in the path of harm, so you want to watch. Little did she know…
I completely thought she walked out there to ask him out for a drink. Shows what I know.
What I founf strange, is that in the first part, moron neighbor went on and on how accurate their replica was and the it was the (paraphrasing) "best personal antitank weapon of WW II). Now, if they’re making an accurate replica of the weapon, shouldn’t the shell be a shaped-charge and not a HE shell ?
They used HE warheads with bazookas in WWII, so they could go with that option and still claim they were trying to be authentic – never mind that, practically, a shaped charge was usually what the doctor ordered, in actual use.
I think the desire to see a big boom would be very tempting for a backyard arms manufacturer, and more instantly gratifying than penetrating power. What did they have to use as a target, anyway? A scrap car?
Anyway, I loved the episode. Especially George’s appeal to Bailey (choke!) and Shepherd’s detailed account of their last kiss. We only retain details like that in memories that we’re in the habit of revisiting.
I also liked the way the moron’s wife’s gratitude was directed towards the paramedic who was still gnashing her teeth about not coming up to an almost impossible mark – like reaching into somebody’s chest cavity and saving their life is nothing, if you can’t also look death in the face without blinking.
…and the shower at the end. Apart from making nice bookends, it means that both George and Meredith had a little imperfect presentiment about the day, at the same time.
I still root for George, vis a vis Meredith. He’s not much to look at, I guess, but he’s just so… good. Meredith seems like the kind of person who needs a lot of support, and George seems to have the sort of disposition where that comes easily, without wearing thin.
I agree, except Meredith has some definite…issues that seem to keep her from seeing anybody but “McDreamy” as a possible mate.
I would like to know more about her family life. I didn’t see the first couple of episodes of the series so maybe I missed some details that would make it all more sensible.
As best I’ve been able to glean from the various episodes, photopat, Meredith’s mother, Ellis Grey and her father, Thatcher, were interns once upon a time with the Chief. Ellis and the Chief had a torrid affair, which it appears Thatch learned about and took baby Meredith and moved across the country.
Now Meredith, upon graduating from med school, is a surgical intern/resident at the hospital where her mother worked for many years. Ellis, meantime, has developed Alzheimer’s and is in a group home. I don’t think we’ve ever learned what happened to Thatch, but he must be dead now, based on his absence. The first few episodes, nobody at Seattle Grace knew about Ellis’s Alzheimers – she was “taking a sabbatical,” according to Mere – but then she was brought in for treatment and so not Mere’s cover story was blown sky-high at that point. I’m assuming the Chief knew, although it’s never been explicitly said so.
I have to implement major disbelief suspension each week to watch this show, but thus far I’ve been quite successful and haven’t had my enjoyment of it impeded by medical idiocy, factual inaccuracy, or plot ridiculousness. It doesn’t hurt that the hot guy quotient far exceeds the average TV show. What’s wrong with being shallow once in a while?
Dang! I had to work and I missed it. Does anyone know if they might be showing an encore?
Oh well, I already read the spoilers. We knew Meredith couldn’t die or it would just be called “Anatomy” or “That’s Grey’s Anatomy All Over the Room”. I guess they could have actually thrown us a curve and had a deceased Meredith continue to narrate from beyond the grave ala “Desperate Housewives”.
So, am I the only one hoping that Christina Ricci and George end up together (if Ricci has any plans to revisit the show, that is…)
OK, I didn’t like this show when it started but a friend of mine, a girl (big shock), occasionally forces me to Tivo it for her which means I end up watching it.
I can say definitively that this episode was quite simply the worst hour of TV programming I’ve ever had the misfortune to watch. My “Grey’s” fan friend agreed and will probably not be asking to tivo it again. In a way, that makes having watching this crap worthwhile.
