“Grey’s Anatomy” aired its season finale last night. We had a power failure, and I missed the last half of the show. Teasers had promised some sort of big surprise in the final five minutes, and I’d like to know what it was. I am rather lukewarm on “Grey’s Anatomy,” but my husband is an avid watcher, and I hate to see him moping around wondering about that big surprise.
Can anyone give me a nutshell synopsis? I lost power shortly after they made the unusual surgical discovery related to Burke’s pal.
Big suprise at the end: Dr. Shepherd’s wife showed up as Izzy was leaving the hospital with him. Of course, Izzy didn’t even know he had a wife, but she seemed pretty up-to-speed on Izzy. Matter-of-factly: “You must be the woman who’s screwing my husband.”
Also, turns out that O’Malley got his dose of siph from Alex. (via his girlfriend, who ditched O’Malley as soon as she hooked up with Georgie.) When he found out, O’Malley attacked him and had to be pulled off. Should have been obvious, I guess, after Alex kept going on about how an STD is a badge of honour, and how he reacted after the girl (name?) cut him dead on the stairs, only acknowledging George.
Also, a bit earlier, Meredith told Derek about her mother’s Alzheimer’s – and the Chief Surgeon (recoving from his apparently successful surgery, observed him consoling her with a kiss.)
There’s probably some other stuff I’m forgetting but I don’t want anyone to cut in ahead of me.
BTW, this isn’t really the season finale. The original order was IIRC the standard new-show order of 13 episodes, but ABC decided that, instead of a full order next year, they’ll save four of this season and do another 13 episode order for a total 17-ep second season. Seems weird to me, given that the thing is already a hit, but I’m no programming wizard.
I think that what Larry Mudd was trying to say was Merideth, not Izzy, had the run-in with Dr. Shepherd’s wife.
Dr. Burke’s buddy ended up having the ovary removed, but during surgery they discovered that Burke’s buddy couldn’t have fathered his wife’s baby, because he was sterile. Burke ended up having a heart to heart with his friend and revealed that his wife was cheating on him.
Izzy and Sandra Oh’s character both did an illegal autopsy on one of the patient with the angry daughter to see if they had killed him. The autopsy revealed that he died of a genetic defect, and his daughter got tested to see if she needed to be treated for it.
