I know there are a lot of Bailey fans, but for me she’s just about the worst of the worst. She’s totally inconsistent. She bitches at her interns for things that she then turns around and does herself. She let Grey, Yang, Izzy, Alex, and George get away with murder (sometimes literally) as interns, with very few consequences worse than a stern lecture and a few days vacation. I think the blame for how awful they are–and how poorly they are training their own interns–rests squarely on Bailey’s back. She may be the most imcompetent character on the show.
My biggest WTF?-moment with this show came with the nurse that Derek had the rebound relationship with (Rose?). Small as her role was, she was the only character on the show that I actually liked. She was pleasant, normal, very attractive, mature, professional, had a good sense of humor–basically the anti-Grey. So what happens to her? The writers turn her character into a complete psycho-stalker-bitch when Derek dumps her. I guess they had to go to such extremes to make her even more unlikeable than Meredith.
God, can’t believe I’m posting, but I got to give my two cents. I haven’t really watched since the first season, but I watched bits and pieces the last few weeks and all of last Thursdays episode. I think Izzy is having a psychotic breakdown and will be leaving the show at the end of the season. It’s a little dark for greys, but I could see Denny disappearing again and Izzy killing herself to be with him. I think it is being hinted at by George’s comments and the scenes when Izzy walks off by herself.
(And I swear to god, I only watch this because my gf loves it :))
Incidentally, Brooke Smith, who played Dr. Hahn, was also the girl Buffalo Bob kept in that hole in Silence of the Lambs. She rubbed the lotion on her skin.
I am a male and I watch it. I guess it is just part of my DVR schedule but I do enjoy it. It is such trash. Really it is more ridiculous then Nip/Tuck.
Originally I watched it on DVD and enjoyed the medical stories and the cute girls. After I caught up, I added it to my record list and keep on watching. I really find this show odd because none of the characters are good people I don’t like any of them. I can’t imagine any of these people wanting to be doctors and help people.
They also don’t seem to practice much medicine. Why do they introduce more characters and make them so stupid? The whole country is screaming for help with medicine and treatments and you have stupid trainees cutting themselves open for practice. How strange.
I am sure the Denny story will end with her having some sort of medical issue that is causing her hallucinations. Perhaps she will die or Alex will save her or something. I don’t really care.
Is it just me or did this show introduce the perfectly trimmed unshaven male? I look at Patrick Dempsey’s perfectly groomed goatee that is outlining is unshaved face and wonder how they do that every episode. I am a guy and I have no idea how to create that look on my face if I wanted too.
Ditto everything else in her life. E.g., her and McDreamy. A completely unlikeable character who I don’t consider to be the “star” of the show. Should have left her in the bay.
Several sites have claimed to “know” what’s going on with Izzie: Not a tumor but definitely a medical condition.
They could still introduce the “Transplant Committee finds out about Izzy” story as a plot line without Hahn. She told them what she heard, they come in and start an investigation. Izzy throws herself on her sword to save everyone else.
Buffalo Bill, btw, not Buffalo Bob. “Wasn’t she a great big fat person?”
I thought of that when I made the comment but this is even more severe. Look at Patrick Dempsey’s face. It is like he did not shave for 2 days, then shaved a goatee in, then he again did not shave for 2 days. His goatee portion is defined and is shaping his chin - but he still has the no shave look.
I am hoping that it turns into Othello and Alex chokes Izzy.
I watch because it’s like hearing about your friend with the crappy relationship or watching a train wreck. It’s interesting, and it’s not happening to you and it makes you feel better about your intelligence and ability to avoid self-sabotage.
BTW, Kevin McKidd’s character definitely has a nickname. Meredith recently referred to him as “Major Hottie”.
Maybe ABC will take this excellent opportunity to educate the viewing public that people don’t become angels when they die, that angels are a separate order of being from humans, and your dead relative does not get wings and watch over you after death.
The biggest question is why so many (including, shamefully, myself sometimes) still tune in to this show. I guess in my case its the eye-candy, but still, there’s the trainwreck, gossip theories too. Just don’t know.
