I was recently playing the game Grim Fandango, and my boyfriend asked me if one of the poems was a real one, or created for the game. I had no clue, and a google search only leads to Fandango pages, which leads me to believe that it was written for the game. The poem in question is the one fan pages refer to as The Moon, and it’s spoken by Manny and Velasco on the docks of Rubacava:
It shone pale as bone,
as I stood there alone.
And I thought
to myself how the moon,
that night, cast its light
on my hearts true delight,
and the reef where her body was strewn.
So is this an original poem, or a take-off of another well known one? Not all songs/poems in the game are invented (i.e. Chepito’s “This little light of mine”, though I’m sure the original never mentioned seaweed or sea monsters).
So, are there any poetry-oriented dopers out there to help me out?
